Is that AI slop? One of the ugliest comics I've seen. A true "shit post".

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago

"But I never heard him say racist things to me and my family"

[–] Cantaloupe@lemmy.fedioasis.cc 30 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Bro is fighting daily to contain the slurs.

[–] Kacarott@aussie.zone 14 points 12 hours ago

Must be containing them in his neck cus damn

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 173 points 22 hours ago (6 children)

I could never have the opposite politics of my spouse. Sure, we may disagree slightly on some matters an nuance, but a world view in direct conflict with mine would be irreconcilable.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 13 minutes ago

If we're talking about politics like loudness ordinances and funding for road projects and whether the fire department needs a millage we can share the same values or same values with different priority orders no problem on the different politics.

If we're talking about whether some people deserve rights or racism or if laws don't some to some people then it's more than a politics difference, it's a values difference.

[–] laranis@lemmy.zip 28 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

When politics felt like shades of policy disagreements I could see it. Now it is either you support democracy and human rights or you're supporting pedophiles and genocide. Not much common ground anymore.

The Overton window has been busy.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Is it a roadrunner? Is it a train? No it's the Overton window going 120 in the slow lane.

[–] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

A politically charged tv channel with specifically that goal running for three generations will do that.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 78 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

My partner is just slightly less left than me and I struggle with it some days. I can't even imagine trying to date someone on the other side.

[–] KeenFlame@feddit.nu 2 points 8 hours ago

Nobody can. Egomanic psycopathy isn't attractive to anyone but the most indoctrinated birds

[–] binarytobis@lemmy.world 21 points 18 hours ago

Sometimes I think about dating again after so long, and I imagine my girlfriend wanting to wiretap our place with an Alexa in the kitchen.

[–] Bristlecone@lemmy.world 38 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Seriously I don't understand how some people can handle their best friend and roommate being a POS

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 16 points 18 hours ago
  1. Fear of making near friends / difficulty making the new friends
  2. Actual naivety of thinking the POS behaviour doesn't matter
  3. Weirdly, peer pressure from other people? For instance you might want to distance yourself from one friend and you are then peer pressured to be in situations with them more often by the other friends, told to build your tolerance of them

... 1 + 2 also applies to romantic relationships!

Edit: just realised 'best friend AND roomate' is just a way of referring to a spouse. But there it is, there's the low-down in my opinion.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 12 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

You bond over other shared interests, like video games and drinking.

As silly as bonding over race, especially when we disagree on basic morality, but that's sadly what happens. 😔

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 7 points 20 hours ago

I'm so glad my parents and brother have (nearly) the same politics as me. Having to regularly deal with trumpers (without being able to laugh in their faces as with my co-workers) would be a perpetual torment. My brother did have an inexplicable phase of loving Putin, but that passed quickly.

[–] Mrkawfee@feddit.uk 5 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Same. I couldn't respect someone with hardened, opposite politics to me. Sex would be satisfying though.

[–] Berengaria_of_Navarre@lemmy.world 11 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

You never had a good hate-fuck?

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 14 hours ago

It doesn't seem appealing tbh

[–] BeefandSquints@lemmy.dbzer0.com 85 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It's almost always that the girl is also a POS but knows she wouldn't have friends if she lived her truth.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 56 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Almost, but sometimes also they are just in an abusive relationship and haven't figured it out yet.

It's hard for me to imagine someone being that clueless but I am surprised every single day.

[–] GalacticSushi@piefed.blahaj.zone 38 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

A lot of religious folks "don't believe in divorce." So even if the relationship isn't abusive, they may be incompatible as a couple but just stick with it.

[–] totally_human_emdash_user@piefed.blahaj.zone 21 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I once talked with a woman who spent several decades being married to a guy who was physically and emotionally abusive to her, but made it clear that she would never leave him because she had promised to stay with him for live at her wedding, but it was okay because things would be better in heaven for her anyway, but not so good for him.

It made me really sad...

That is literally heartbreaking and a prime example of why religion causes far more harm than good.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 53 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

That's my sister and husband.

[–] frankenswine@lemmy.world 39 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

your sister is your husband?

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 9 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I think he means his sister reads salon and his husband is racist and also his husband and his sister are in a relationship too, it's a classic polycule isotope.

[–] hexabs@lemmy.world 2 points 41 minutes ago (1 children)

He was poking fun at the framing. It should have been "my sister and her husband"

"My sister and husband" has the same grammatical framing as "my friend and classmate". It denotes the same person.

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 2 points 16 minutes ago

Yes, I understood the joke, my comment was also a joke that it could be interpreted as "my sister and my husband"

[–] halfeatenpotato@sh.itjust.works 9 points 12 hours ago

they're very close

[–] rbos@lemmy.ca 31 points 22 hours ago

Saaaame. Dude would 100% support loading me into a train to the camps in the right circumstances.

"By making others feel unsafe"

The lady probably feels the same way, she just knows better than to be honest about it because she's better socialised.

[–] frankenswine@lemmy.world 14 points 21 hours ago (5 children)

a third of hetero males in hetero relationships are the most racist man alive?

[–] StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world 1 points 2 minutes ago

Recent US election results don't contradict the assertion.

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 10 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

They made a lot of those T-Shirts, they were on sale at Walmart, 14 for $0.88

[–] darklamer@feddit.org 1 points 32 minutes ago

14 for $0.88

I see what you did there!

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@piefed.world 25 points 21 hours ago

All those men also look exactly like that

[–] jeffep@lemmy.world 8 points 18 hours ago (1 children)
[–] blinfabian@feddit.nl 4 points 9 hours ago

theres a band named "a third of hetero males in hetero relationships are the most racist man alive?"?

[–] creature@lemmy.world 9 points 21 hours ago

But it feels true
