I think I have to tell my favorite bird story.

I used to have a glorious organic garden, and I would work in it almost every day. One day, as I was turning a bed for the next crop, a Robin sat on the edge of another bed watching me. When I stepped back to take a break, he hopped over to where I'd been working, and pulled up a big worm.

I went back to work, and he continued to watch me. Occasionally I'd toss him a worm. After that, he'd show up whenever I'd work, for a free meal.

One day, I got started, and my buddy showed up. He called quietly, in that little warbling chortle that they do, and a female robin hopped out from behind the neighbor's fence. She spotted me, and became immediately agitated, but he chortled lightly, and she settled down, eyeing me warily.

I got to work, and tossed him a worm, which startled her. He gulped it down as she watched. Then I tossed a worm to her, startling her again, but less. She carefully approached the worm and ate. After that she settled down, and enjoyed her dinner

My Robin friend had gone out and got himself a date, and brought her to his favorite restaurant, where he's friends with the head chef. What a BALLER move!

That is awesome, and it sounds like something I would totally do.

...if I didn't already have enough pets of my own that scare birds out of the yard, lol. Fortunately I have pets that will eat worms. I have been thinking of building a nice bird feeder just outside the fence though.

Oh my goodness, I love this! Thank you so much for sharing! :) Sounds like you had a kickass garden; you must be very talented and hard-working. I'm jealous!

Just yesterday a friend mentioned that when he was a kid, there was a robin that would always show up while he was working in his garden, and it would sit on his shoe the whole time and pick out worms. It's so cool to read this right afterwards! Such neat little birdies.

That garden was a masterpiece, I miss it. I eventually started a business, and some hobbies, like sports and gardening, had to step aside to carve out time for the business.

It is beautiful!

Sex is natural and not something that's aesthetically inferior to other things

Honestly the way birds mate call is more beautiful than crass humans, and I'm pretty sure their chirps are not crass messages to each other like crass humans make.

[โ€“] Osprey@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Mmm not quite always. Some species, like house sparrows, are rather monotonous and annoying.

[โ€“] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Sure, some birds sound more annoying than others, but I doubt they are screaming "sit on my face!"

[โ€“] Zorque@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Hey, that song is beautiful!

Talk about the MTA in New York City autistically for an hour

Probably just stand there laughing.

I prefer to impress the ladies by building a really nice treehouse.

You have my attention, Gentleman ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ I am a human woman who loves tree houses.

Check it out! Over there is an old matras covered in colourful pillows. Sorry if it's a bit smelly. In that corner there's a beanbag, with a sweet-ass lava lamp and an old record player next to it. The lava lamp works with tea lights, but the record player doesn't work because there's no electricity. In the other corner there's a cardboard box full of old Spider-Man comics! Pretty cool, right?

[โ€“] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Oh I'm sorry. You meant clubhouse. Like a boys club clubhouse.

[โ€“] yabai@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

No gurlz allowed โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšซ

More like a me and my close friends/partners only clubhouse

So, yeah. Believe it or not, it's related even in primates.

[โ€“] HamsterRage@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That's how we got "Layla"...but it didn't work.

[โ€“] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Patti Boyd did go back & forth between Eric Clapton & George Harrison. Tragically by the time she finally settled for Eric Clapton, it was too late & he ended up treating her like trash just the way she'd treated him like trash all those years he longed for her.

Did I get any of that right?, or please tell me if I'm showing symptoms of dementia. Sincerely please tell me.

[โ€“] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, Clapton treated her bad because he's shit person. A great guitarist, but a shit person.

[โ€“] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He wrote at least two beautiful songs about her. Seriously the whole saga of both of those men being in love with Patty Boyd was heartbreaking on Eric Clapton's end, Patty Boyd really did shatter his heart, maybe he was already a shitty person, I don't know but having your heart broken probably wouldn't make things any better.

I've never cared enough to dig up the whole story, but it sounds like Patty was the problem.

[โ€“] foggianism@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

That song was beak rock.

Peak t-rex behaviour!

(That's my headcanon.)
