News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Das war bei uns genauso, absolut nicht überraschend. Viel Glück weiterhin.

But the Dow.

Get ready for the next reddit exodus. Honestly I can't wait.

[–] hellure@lemmy.org 11 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

Just installed Blorp and created this account.

Been meaning too, but my 3rd party app just became useless because of their API BS, so there's that too.

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 9 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I never even heard of Blorp.

That's what makes this piece of the internet so cool.

[–] hellure@lemmy.org 2 points 1 hour ago

I really liked the name.

It's missing a bunch of basic stuff though, ATM.

Doesn't even have a file access permission option to save pictures, but it appears to save when you click Download. Just does nothing. Have to click Share and 'save with a file app' or 'copy to folder' or whatever instead

A few missing features aside, it does work.

They still have 3rd party Reddit apps? And they fucked them on API use again? lol

Welcome to the Fediverse

I think all the people that are going to leave have left. I don't see that many people griping about anything anymore. (I browse /r/all and I mod a couple of local subreddits, but otherwise don't participate much anymore)

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 15 points 3 hours ago

If you are a mod, then that’s the most kind of participating my guy

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Would love for your mod experience to come over here!

There's a lot of growth and community organization we need at Lemmy!

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 hour ago

I think they were questioning your “otherwise don’t participate much” comment.

What did you think they were saying?

[–] BenderRodriguez@lemmy.world 9 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I've noticed Reddit comments are slowly but surely getting outnumbered with ICE sympathizer comments.

Any video I saw of the high school kid punching the ICE instigator had thousands of comments that are Pro-ICE. They are typically aggressive and taunting. The amount of bot posts and comments are ridiculous too.

[–] hellure@lemmy.org 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (2 children)

Are there bot commentors on Lemmy?

I just migrated, don't really know all the ins and outs yet.

[–] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Most that hit Lemmy are pretty damn obvious and get banned quickly by mods and instance admins.

So far the slightly more complex reddit style ones haven't been turned on us yet. Probably don't think the smaller userbase is worth the effort.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 hour ago

I suspect these more advanced Reddit bots are given some kind of special access via private APIs or other backend integration from the Reddit staff / devs themselves.

Which they won’t get here. Of course, the whole thing is open source, so they could modify that as needed and run it on their own instances. Of course, those instances would then be easy to spot and defederate. And on and on.

[–] PriorityMotif@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Sometimes I think there are provacateurs on here, saying we should do something about so and so and so forth. Trying to do the old FBI trick of creating terrorism where there isn't any.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Don’t forget get all the anti Kamala “leftists” during the election.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 29 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (2 children)

You would hope the corporate collaborators of this fascist regime will one day get their comeuppance. Sadly, if the history of corporate collaborators in Nazi Germany is anything to go by, most likely not much will happen to them or their officers...

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 13 points 4 hours ago

Don't worry, they'll be punished, and you'll never hear from them again. For example, have you ever heard of Hugo Boss, Volkswagen, Adidas, Coca-Cola, Ford, Fanta, BMW, Siemens, Bayer, or IBM?

[–] amino@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 hours ago

the reason they got away is because the Germans expected the cops to handle the nazi cops. when a more hands on solution would've been more expedient

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

But not Lemmy right... right?

lol Fuck ICE, they will get what's coming once midterms happen. Especially those that have hurt or murdered people.

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I wanna say lemmy is to small for them to care right now. They got enough to monitor with those 3 alone. Definitely one day though.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 hours ago

They're here, they're just on shifts and are approximately 7-30 accounts, depending on time. Hopefully, it stays around that.

[–] Shirasho@lemmings.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Nothing is going to happen to them come midterms. I'll only believe something good can happen in this country after it happens.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I'm trying to manifest it like Oprah would've wanted.

She'd also want to platform people like Mehmet Oz (who hasn't been a doctor since several years before he ran for Senate), Dr Phil, and John of God.

So maybe don't fall for her bullshit 🤷
