Yes two drives is much better than using the same drive to dual boot. However be aware that windows update will at some point break the Linux install even if installed on a second drive. There's a few steps you can take to avoid this like making sure the boot partition and booy manager ate both on the Linux only drive but Microsoft messing something up is an inevitability.

If on a laptop with only one drive, you could boot to a USB drive or USB external enclosure for an SSD.

Ideally, you should back up all data to an external drive which is only plugged in during backups (unplug when installing another os). I would even recommend windows users booting into clonezilla and cloning their windows drive as it is really easy to overwrite or format the wrong drive.

PICARD: What I didn't put in the report was that at the end he gave me a choice between a life of comfort or more torture. All I had to do was to say that I could see five lights, when in fact, there were only four.
TROI: You didn't say it?
PICARD: No, no, but I was going to. I would have told him anything. Anything at all. But more than that, I believed that I could see five lights.

Actually, it's terrorism.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

FTOs are foreign organizations that the Bureau of Counterterrorism in the US state department designates as terrorist entities under section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Once such a designation is made, it becomes unlawful for a US person to knowingly provide that group with “material support or resources”. That phrase is defined broadly in the statute as “any property, tangible or intangible, or service”, which can include “expert advice or assistance”. An aggressive interpretation of “service” and “assistance” may easily break down what were seemingly secure boundaries of free speech.

Protected speech is often used to show predisposition, motive or intent in material support prosecutions. Such prosecutions have led to serious federal anti-terrorism convictions that result in lengthy sentences. Typically, sentencing guidelines call for 20 years to life in prison. Actual sentences in double-digit years are not uncommon

I used an old school audio only baby monitor in my daughters nursery. I never needed a live video feed. The baby crying was more than enough reason to go check on her. And if the power went out, it didn't need WiFi and had a builtin battery backup. Also the range was quite good, I could use it from a few neighbors houses away.

“The real problem is not like the crazy guy that firebombs a Tesla dealership, it’s the people pushing the propaganda that cause that guy to do it,” he continued.

“The president has made it clear, we are going to go after them. The ones providing the money. The ones pushing the lies and propaganda, we’re going after them,” Musk claimed. “I think there’s some real evil out there. We have to overcome it.”

This statement means that U.S. Citizens no longer have Constitutional rights.

Now that doge will handle elections and voter registrations. I wonder if all states will be required to have one. Or if that will only be handled by the federal doge.

Sorry I fucked up the formatting, couldn't figure out the bigger bullet points.

I think it's fine. All formatting on Lemmy is handled by markdown. In markdown, you can't change the size if the bullets, but you can indent listed items (ordered/numbered or unordered/bulleted) by just indenting the bullet with 2 spaces (although 4 spaces is safest when formating markdown. I think the only item you cab change your size of is headlines.

Btw, thanks for the updated list.

Not when the geo group can earn a profit off of a detainee. Especially if they get to make an example out of someone who was both here legally and was exercising freedom of speech as is protected by the 1st Amendment.

This means we no longer have constitutional rights.

Quotes from the source

(ii) For purposes of subsection (a) of this section, “documentary proof of United States citizenship” shall include a copy of: (A) a United States passport; (B) an identification document compliant with the requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-13, Div. B) that indicates the applicant is a citizen of the United States; (C) an official military identification card that indicates the applicant is a citizen of the United States; or (D) a valid Federal or State government-issued photo identification if such identification indicates that the applicant is a United States citizen or if such identification is otherwise accompanied by proof of United States citizenship.

the Secretary of Homeland Security shall, consistent with applicable law, ensure that State and local officials have, without the requirement of the payment of a fee, access to appropriate systems for verifying the citizenship or immigration status of individuals registering to vote or who are already registered;

the Department of Homeland Security, in coordination with the DOGE Administrator, shall review each State’s publicly available voter registration list and available records concerning voter list maintenance activities as required by 52 U.S.C. 20507, alongside Federal immigration databases and State records requested, including through subpoena where necessary and authorized by law, for consistency with Federal requirements.

The Attorney General shall take all necessary action to enforce 2 U.S.C. 7 and 3 U.S.C. 1 against States that violate these provisions by including absentee or mail-in ballots received after Election Day in the final tabulation of votes for the appointment of Presidential electors and the election of members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives.

Possible Outcomes

  • Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) will have total oversight and control of elections and its results. DOGE will not be subject to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests.
  • Registered democratic party members and millions of other citizens will be deleted from voter registrations. Re-registration will not be with the state, but will be implemented under regime control via DOGE and with frequently changing requirements especially just before elections take place.
  • Voters will need to ensure they have a valid US passport which is good for at least 1 year before the next time they plan to vote. Consider that this regime will probably make it difficult to renew passports. Also note that while a passport is in the process of being renewed, it will not be accessible.
  • Transgender people will have a hard time figuring out how to vote as they wont be given passports that matches their state identity.
  • Voters should consider getting a secondary pre-approved document that plainly states citizenship status. However, expect the list of pre-approved documents to change just before elections take place to remove as many legally eligible voters from the democratic process as possible.
  • Expect the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) & Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be at polling stations to intimidate, delay, and racially profile voters. Expect further challenges to mail in ballots which enforce in person voting the day of. Arrests and deportations may be weaponized at the voting booth as well, make sure to bring all the documents that one would bring to an immigration office to prove legal status.
  • Considering that all votes must now be counted on election day, expect to see major delays and interventions deliberately implemented in heavily democratic voting areas.
  • If a state fails to meet the tabulation deadline (election day), that state's votes simply wont be counted. The states most likely to experience delays are the states that also have the highest population densities, coincidentally, these are states that are more likely to vote for the democratic party.

Preventing Abuses of the Legal System and the Federal Court (Presidential Memoranda)

I hereby direct the Attorney General to seek sanctions against attorneys and law firms who engage in frivolous, unreasonable, and vexatious litigation against the United States or in matters before executive departments and agencies of the United States.

I further direct the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security to prioritize enforcement of their respective regulations governing attorney conduct and discipline.

I further direct the Attorney General to take all appropriate action to refer for disciplinary action any attorney whose conduct in Federal court or before any component of the Federal Government appears to violate professional conduct rules, including rules governing meritorious claims and contentions, and particularly in cases that implicate national security, homeland security, public safety, or election integrity.

I further direct that, when the Attorney General determines that conduct by an attorney or law firm in litigation against the Federal Government warrants seeking sanctions or other disciplinary action, the Attorney General shall, in consultation with any relevant senior executive official, recommend to the President, through the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, additional steps that may be taken, including reassessment of security clearances held by the attorney or termination of any Federal contract for which the relevant attorney or law firm has been hired to perform services.

I further direct the Attorney General, in consultation with any relevant senior executive official, to review conduct by attorneys or their law firms in litigation against the Federal Government over the last 8 years. If the Attorney General identifies misconduct that may warrant additional action, such as filing frivolous litigation or engaging in fraudulent practices, the Attorney General is directed to recommend to the President, through the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, additional steps that may be taken, including reassessment of security clearances held by the attorney, termination of any contract for which the relevant attorney or law firm has been hired to perform services, or any other appropriate actions.

This is not a meme. This is a quote from Trump’s border czar on why he was ignoring Judge James Boasberg’s orders.

https://www.democracynow.org/2025/3/18/headlines/i_dont_care_what_the_judges_think_trump_administration_rejects_court_orders_on_deportations

The case was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union. Speaking after Monday’s hearing, ACLU lawyer Lee Gelernt called the situation a “constitutional crisis.”

Lee Gelernt: “At this point, it seems like the administration is simply walking into court and telling a federal court they can’t look at the evidence, they can’t stop what they’re doing, and we see constant public statements from administration officials criticizing federal judges, saying they don’t have authority. I think we’re on dangerous ground here in the United States.”

He was the founder of the Albert Einstein Institution, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the study of nonviolent action, and professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.[2] He was known for his extensive writings on nonviolent struggle, which have influenced numerous anti-government resistance movements around the world.

Governmental entities that EO 14236 will eliminate:

  • Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service - FMCS is a federal agency that provides mediation and arbitration services to labor and management nationwide
  • United States Agency for Global Media - The United States Agency for Global Media's mission is to inform, engage and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy
  • Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in the Smithsonian Institution - a Washington, D.C.based think tank named for former U.S. President Woodrow Wilson. It is also a United States presidential memorial established as part of the Smithsonian Institution by an act of Congress in 1968. It self-identifies as nonpartisan.
  • Institute of Museum and Library Services - an independent agency of the United States federal government established in 1996. It is the main source of federal support for libraries and museums within the United States, having the mission to advance, support, and empower America's museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development."
  • United States Interagency Council on Homelessness - an independent federal agency within the U.S. executive branch that leads the implementation of the federal strategic plan to prevent and end homelessness
  • Community Development Financial Institutions Fund - promotes economic revitalization in distressed communities throughout the United States by providing financial assistance and information to community development financial institutions.
  • Minority Business Development Agency - an agency in the United States Department of Commerce that promotes growth and competitiveness of the United States' minority-owned businesses, including Hispanic and Latino American, Asian Pacific American, African American, and Native American businesses.

Edit: my meme had a grammatical error. Added the word of to it.

We found the waste Elon Musk and DOGE won’t cut: it’s defense contractors. The Department of Defense funnels $450 billion of taxpayer dollars a year to private military contractors. But Musk is too focused on cutting DEI initiatives (0.01% of the size of the defense budget) to tackle the real waste and fraud. Will the Trump administration take action on the real government waste? ----- More Perfect Union’s mission is to build power for working people.
