Dear Posteo customers,

We have good news: Starting immediately, the price of โ‚ฌ1 per month includes more storage space โ€“ we are increasing it from 2 GB to 4 GB.

The adjustment applies to all Posteo mailboxes: both for new and existing customers.

I changed from Gmail to posteo two weeks ago. Works fine.

A good thing just happening? With no Strings attached? Thats wild!

Great news!

I've been using Posteo for about 10 years. Highly recommended

[โ€“] CactusEcho@piefed.social 13 points 19 hours ago

Nice!

I moved to posteo a year ago. This is excelent news!

But, afaik they don't support custom domains, right?

[โ€“] bort@sopuli.xyz 2 points 9 hours ago

I relays all my mails from my custom domain to my posteo mailbox for the last 10 years. No issues there. (I do this via a minimal postfix on the VPS on that domain). The downside is, that I can only receive mail on that domain, but not send any.

[โ€“] bekksen@piefed.social 16 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

yep, you are right - custom domains are not supported by posteo. But mailbox.org supports them afaik

[โ€“] Fedditor385@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago

But then the price increases by 150% per month :D

Is Posteo better than Protonmail or Tuta?

[โ€“] bort@sopuli.xyz 2 points 9 hours ago

I use posteo for mail/calendar and proton for everything else.

[โ€“] madjo@piefed.social 13 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Tuta is nice, but you have to use their app or website to read your mail.
Search is slow and often requires you to rebuild the search cache.
And last time I used Tuta, I couldn't sort my email in other ways than time.
It's very secure though and allows for E2E encryption with passwords.

Posteo allows you to use any IMAP client to access your mail.

[โ€“] JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl 3 points 15 hours ago

It is literally no more secure than any other email. Almost all emails support E2E encryption with passphrase, and any email that can use IMAP can through clients too.

The problem is that 99.99% of emails (not counting deltachat) have no way of utilizing that, so it is just as insecure on Tuta as anything else, just better marketed.

They all get the job done. Posteo has no free plan and only one paid plan which is the cheapest of the three (1โ‚ฌ/mo).

If you want to save money, Purelymail is 10 dollars a year, no strings attached, unlimited custom domains. It's blissful.

Edit: I'm stupid, it's based in the US

[โ€“] dukemirage@lemmy.world 1 points 12 minutes ago (1 children)

Thanks, but Iโ€˜ll not switch back to a US service, kinda the point of this community.

[โ€“] Scrollone@feddit.it 1 points 7 minutes ago

Yeah I'm stupid, sorry. I've started reading about email services and I thought we were taking about independent providers in general

[โ€“] bekksen@piefed.social 5 points 18 hours ago

Nice, good to know!

[โ€“] Limerance@piefed.social -1 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I was surprised to see this be that little.

iCloud+ gives me 50 GB for 0,99 โ‚ฌ per month, including my own email domain, cloud storage, calendar, unlimited alias addresses.

With the convenience of auto distributing your nudes on your behalf.
