Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Pretty sure the flow chart for identifying scams goes.

"Is trump in the name?" With yes leading to "it's a scam"

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Venn diagram is a circle

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 26 points 1 week ago

I wouldn't say that... there are indeed scams out there that aren't related to trump... at least not until the scammer gets caught and trump pardons him.

So would be more accurate to say on the ven diagram, the trump circle is completely inside of the scams circle, (though the scams circle is certainly bigger than the trump one).

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

No, the flow goes from the President's diapee, into that lady's nose, and then all the reporters have to leave

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 74 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This is the first time I've heard of "TrumpRx", and let me say, goddamn, Trump is one stupid bastard piece of shit. He really called it "TrumpRx" with his own name in it. He obviously doesn't realize that "Obamacare" is actually the "Affordable Care Act", and that it was Obama's political opponents who first called it "Obamacare."

Trump is a walking fucking joke.

[–] jedibob5@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago (3 children)

As an aside, I always hated how Dems completely caved on the terminology of the ACA. They should've been saying the words "Affordable Care Act" at every turn, keeping the actual goal of the whole thing more in the popular consciousness. Going along with calling it "Obamacare" implicitly accepted the GOP's framing of the bill and allowed them to more easily control the narrative.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It was in keeping with how they totally caved on the actual underlying policy and accepted the GOP's ideas there too at least

[–] human@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah the Rs were determined to make it as bad as they could so they could point at it later and say how bad it was.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

The Dems were also determined to make it as bad as they could so that it wouldn't affect their donors or rock the boat in any way. That's why they used Mitt Romneys healthcare plan to "gain bipartisan support" despite it not being needed with zero Republicans voting for it.

We could have had single-payer but instead we're left with largely the same model we had prior except now more of our tax dollars get funneled to insurance companies in the name of "subsidized healthcare."

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

As I recall, Obama ultimately made peace with the name. He said "I kind of like the name, because I do care!"

Only Republicans would think "Hey, that guy cares!" might be an insult.

And ego wins the day, once more.

Democratic Party politicians and caving on things: name a more iconic duo

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago

He really, really loves to put his name on things. Any publicity is good publicity for him, considering he became the president through kayfabe and nepotism

[–] hector@lemmy.today 30 points 1 week ago (1 children)

As if he could resist making it into a scam to benefit him directly.

[–] whereIsTamara@lemmy.org 5 points 1 week ago

I think that every time he takes a dump he asks himself how he can profit off it.

[–] vpol@feddit.uk 26 points 1 week ago

Everything made or initiated by Trump is a scam.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 week ago

"...question if it's a giant scam..."

Right, ask this one question:
"Does the {whatever} have the word tRUMP involved in or near it or have the obese orange paedo involved or near it?"

If the answer is no, then it's possibly not a scam.

If it's a yes then it's DEFINITELY a scam. Definitely.
No ifs or buts, it's just a scam. Could be blatant, or disguised very intricately but it's definitely a scam all the same.

[–] Didntdoit71@feddit.online 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If? You have to ask? Let's do the math:
The president of a nation wants to run his own "cheapo" pharmacy. Said president loves Mammon more than his own children. If you don't know what Mammon is, Google it.
Big Pharmacy also loves Mammon more than their own kids.
Yeah. It's a scam. Idiots.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Of course I know what Mammon is....

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago

Yes. There solved it for them.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Great, now your daily medication will be under the capricious supervision of Trump. Hope you don't take anything that your life or well-being depends on.

"Sorry, we can't give out your insulin, according to our data you said something negative about president Trump on Reddit three years ago."

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

The ICEstapo scanned your face while you were recording them doing crimes, sorry, no life-saving meds for insurrectionists.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

If you order estradiol it gets hand delivered by five angry men with tiny teens, big guns, and bigger egos

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 8 points 1 week ago

Trump + words out of his mouth = lie. It's a law of metaphysics at this point.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago

It's a Trump deal, of course it's a scam.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

... and, assuming it is, why aren't they getting their cut?

[–] nosuchanon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

TrumpRx delayed, ~~as senators question if it's~~ a giant scam with Big Pharma

Fixed.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

...and ask how they get cut in on the scam.

[–] phantomwormhole@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 week ago

Anything with Trump's name attached is a GRIFT! No exceptions.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They'll all bend the knee.

100%. There will be a little questioning, maybe some token resistance, but it'll get just enough Democrat support to pass.

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago
[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How is any of this the least bit legal? And why in the fuck is it named after him?

[–] als@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's jealous of Obamacare catching on as a name

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

And here the cons are showing themselves to be snowflakes again - they tried the same thing with ACA as they did with Hillary and "Hillarycare", hoping to attach a name to it to scare off morons - you don't want healthcare coming from a woman, they have cooties! They thought they could scare off most of the country by tying ACA to the black guy and thus sink the whole thing. So they kept repeating "Obamacare, Obamacare" at every turn for years and years, even long after it passed.

Turns out most people like having health care. And they like ACA, AKA, "Obamacare". It polls well. Yeah, as every liberal knew before and could tell you ever since - it's hardly perfect, it came from Romney and Heritage Foundation, and so on. Still, it's better than the nothing that the conservatives offered.

Now a jagoff like Donvict is jealous that it's commonly known as Obamacare instead of ACA.

🤣

TrumpRX might be the ONLY good thing Trump has ever done for consumers, but I constantly see articles like this and Democrats pick it apart in favor of...our current prescription system?

There's a reason Mark Cubans cost plus drugs is revolutionary for low income folks and even myself.

[–] quips@slrpnk.net 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If trumprx is a good system I will sing its praises in the same sentence I call him a kid fucker.

[–] Sl00k@programming.dev 8 points 1 week ago

Definitely a mood

Narrator: "It was, but it didn't matter."

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I think that they are going to try to do something with the weight loss drug. Like basically offer it super cheap to win over fat Americans. Cause most of us are over weight. Trump has already mentioned this drug multiple times.

But I really doubt that deal will happen. Some European county (Norway?) owns it. And they won't budge on the inflated price.
