If you can still dip it without getting dip on your fingers, it's a chip.
If you end up with a small amount of chips and dip left, just dump the small pieces into the dip and eat it with a spoon like cereal.
If I can pick it up, it's a chip. If I have to pour it out, it's a crumb.
Does licking your finger and doing it one finger count? Or does it have to be grasped by two fingers?

yup, I'd go further and say that if it's the same size as your thumbnail, it's still a chip. Any smaller and it becomes crumb. Big crumb, but crumb.
