Canadians hatred of Trump is burning hot right now. We vividly remember all of the threats Trump made of invading Canada.

and here PP is celebrating Trump invading another country. This man couldn't be more tone-deaf if he tried.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 67 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The contrast of Trump saying he wants to annex us repeatedly, will get Greenland, and that America wants Venezuela’s oil, then fucking taking over their government “indefinitely” and stating the US will now own and sell their oil is fucking terrifying.

This needs to be the moment our government looks over and starts taking this seriously. And not “we’ll start building an in 10 years” kinda seriously, taking action today.

[–] FreeBooteR69@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago (2 children)

We need to remember the lessons we learned in WWII building the 4th largest air force, and 3rd largest navy in the world. 765 thousand troops for a nation of only 11.8 million.

We have 40 million ish people now, 12 old frigates, 3 dog eared subs, and 79 fighter jets half of which aren't operational. We have so much work to do, we are kind of fucked if we don't turn this shit around fast.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

I don’t think we need to go for top quality right now either.

Just start fucking welding together ships and drones. We have machine jobs and an auto industry that’s doing. We don’t need fully tooled, we have machine solos who can start building small scale fast.

Everything Ukraine has done to become a leader in drone production we could do, and frankly I think drones and nukes would be our best quick investments.

Advanced radar woods be good too, like we’re buying from Australia.

Deleting windows from all government systems needs to be done, and removing azure from all workflows for as Canadian clouds like OVH (I know they’re French).

Cloud is basically fungible these days if you can stand up hardware, which I know exists in this country.

But really, you don’t build advanced if you can’t build simple, and that’s the muscle we need to flex.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago

The cons won't allow that kind of expense though, as all funding needs to go to American oil barons so they can create and own corporations that get 98%+ of Alberta oil proceeds. That's their play, and spending on Canadians isn't really helping their goals.

We need to prepare for war NOW

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 30 points 4 days ago (2 children)

He doesn't know what socialism is.

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

Sure he does, it’s a buzz word that riles his dummies!

[–] FreeBooteR69@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He knows his brain dead audience though. They hate socialism, communism, liberals, and it doesn't matter that they don't know what any of those words mean.

[–] TemplaerDude@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago

No, I’m confident in saying that Pierre doesn’t either. The people who write his tweets and speeches might, but Pierre is a fucking idiot.

[–] slothrop@lemmy.ca 94 points 4 days ago (1 children)

"All Hail The Pedophile Rapist Despot!"

-- PP

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 32 points 4 days ago

Finally, he has an excuse to say it.

I'm guessing it's still a misstep when it comes to winning an election in the future; the story isn't over yet.

[–] RaskolnikovsAxe@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 days ago

Christ Almighty this guy can't do anything without trying to hurt other people, divide the country, or advocate for its destruction.

His whole life has been government funded. Hey Pierre, not everyone gets multiple hundreds of thousands a year in a golden pension, most of us rely on CPP as an important component of retirement. Socialized medicine and other programs make our country strong.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 80 points 4 days ago

What a fucking embarrassment.

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 73 points 4 days ago (1 children)

What an incredibly stupid message when a lot of Canadians have to be thinking, "Are we next?"

To be fair, a Trump regime change is his best chance at actually ever becoming PM.

Many of his loyal base would welcome an American invasion at this point.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 70 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This guy has no fucking clue

This is going to fucking wreck Canada’s oil economy, and his buddies are going to be shitting their pants right now because Trump is saying the US is going to just sell Venezuela’s oil to everyone.

Fuck you Pollievre, you fucking moron.

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 40 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If the US actually succeeds (huge if, they control exactly 0.00% of Venezuela right now), this is will crash the Albertan economy into the earth's core. And Albertans will, somehow, blame the Liberals.

[–] Kichae@lemmy.ca 22 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

No wonder PP's celebrating, then. The CPC hasn't considered anything outside of Alberta and Saskatchewan to be "Canada" since they molted their Reform Party carapace.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 30 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Yup. The US needs heavy crude, that comes from Canada or Venezuela. Guess the US won’t need Canadian oil anymore.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It wouldn't surprise me if he used the new-found Venezuelan oil to try and shut Canada down.

2026 is looking to be a nasty fucking year.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 19 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Luckily, Alberta is only 15% of our GDP.

Jesus fucking christ. If you ever need evidence to explain why Poilievre lost the election to one of the weakest Liberal runs Canada has seen in modern history, here it is. Tone deaf isn't enough to describe it. Clueless feels too weak. He's completely disassociated from the Canadian perspective.

I wonder if he even considered a more carefully worded message that didn't condone open violations of international law. Surely there was a way to say this that was less ball-suckingly sycophantic and maybe even, god forbid, a little bit respectful of the people in Canada who are able to see the danger that Trump poses.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 28 points 4 days ago

And this guy was almost elected prime minister

[–] shittydwarf@piefed.social 42 points 4 days ago

Shut the fuck up pp you little fascist bitch

[–] Threeskittiesinatrenchcoat@lemmy.ca 37 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

As an extension of the GOP, the CPC generally mirrors GOP propaganda in most things.

It's not a coincidence, PP isn't just acting like Trump, he answers to him.

Fuck that little fascist.

[–] jaselle@lemmy.ca 34 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Down with socialism??? Wtf is the problem with socialism

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Conservatives are afraid of socialism because they lack critical thinking skills and believe it when people say the nazis were genuine socialists. Socialism = nazis for many conservatives. Racism, genocide, and state sanctioned violence is not nazi like behavior in the eyes of many conservatives.

[–] dom@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 days ago

Tldr: conservatives are fucking dumb.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 21 points 4 days ago

A century of red scare propaganda.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 35 points 4 days ago

Working hard to win that leadership election. I hope it backfires.

[–] JustADrone@lemmy.ca 32 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Hey siri, define “quisling”

[–] snoons@lemmy.ca 35 points 4 days ago

quisling /kwĭz′lĭng/
noun

  1. A traitor who serves as the puppet of the enemy occupying his or her country.
  2. A traitor who collaborates with the enemy.
  3. Someone who collaborates with an enemy occupying force.
[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 16 points 4 days ago

That's the Norwegian word for "Poilievre".

[–] Warehouse@piefed.ca 25 points 4 days ago

"Well, someone needs to run Vichy Canada!"
-Pierre, probably.

[–] TheAgeOfSuperboredom@lemmy.ca 28 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Fuck off lil PP.

With all the damage Cons are doing, I wonder when people will wake up to the fact that this "socialism" the Cons keep attacking is actually the good guys.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 16 points 4 days ago

Always has been.

[–] AzuranAurora@piefed.ca 27 points 4 days ago

Fuck off from our country and never come back, you fascist piece of shit.

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 21 points 4 days ago

He’s in the running for “Biggest Turd Canada has ever produced.”

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 28 points 4 days ago

Fascist Pig.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 24 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I take it PP's forgotten he was born under our social democracy.

He is such a loser loudmouth

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Looking on from the outside, Canadian citizens may be screwed either way the wind blows. Saying something as tone-deaf as this is going to convince people to keep strategically voting against him, so either he wins and sells out the country, or he loses and yall end up in the same two-party system that is easily captured by corporations and billionaires.

How shiny can you make a boots by licking them? PP is finding out!

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 days ago

He's aiming a little higher, I think.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 19 points 4 days ago

Imperialist bootlicker.
