Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Remember when the government was shut down specifically because the Democrats refused to go along with a bill that ended the health insurance subsidies, and they had the Republicans up against the ropes because no matter how much they tried to dodge the responsibility, the majority of people blamed Republican intransigence for the shutdown?

Then remember how the Schumer-led Democrats just completely folded, passed the bill, then stood idly by as the chance to extend the subsidies vanished?

Every single one of those stinking traitorous shitbags needs to be primaried.

[–] velindora@lemmy.cafe 74 points 1 month ago (6 children)

So, the problem is the “primaried” thing isn’t enough at this point. People are going to die because of these choices. Eye for an eye.

definitely a comment that would get you banned from reddit

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And even though it won't get you banned here, it surely is being documented by Palantir and putting us all on "lists."

[–] foodandart@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fuck Palantir, it's Google that's the devil.

Don't fear the state, fear the profit driven corporations.

They're the future, and it begins now.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I don’t think you understand the depth and breadth of what Palantir does, and who uses them.

Which is strange since Republicans usually love bible quotes.

Soon there will be a critical mass of people who have nothing left to lose

[–] Fuckfuckmyfuckingass@lemmy.world 46 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I both welcome and dread the day.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 45 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Yeah, I think a lot of people want to speedrun this happening without realizing that in reality it's just gonna lead to a lot more crime and a lot lower quality of life.

The glorious revolution that results in a brand new glorious era for America is not that likely to happen in this scenario. Most revolutions don't really turn out that great, if you ever even get to the revolution phase as everyone is just robbing and killing each other out of desperation.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 11 points 1 month ago (5 children)

We already got the 1% robbing us blind into the grave. It would be nice to make this into an mutual arrangement.

Fer sure. There are plenty of people that need to suffer consequences, but suffering is an equal opportunity employer.

Unfortunately a non-zero percentage will just say we need to keep doing the same shit except more and harder.

It's going to be another tough year funneling taxpayer money to billionaires and corporations. Midterm elections are the best most peaceful route to making 2027 a better year. In the meantime tighten your belt and hunker down.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 31 points 1 month ago

And help your community in any way you can.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd rather people get to work on fixing things now than wait until November.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Me too, big time. But our officials elected and otherwise seem to be mostly riding it out. Except quite a few non-supreme court judges.

It’s incredible how Democrat sentiment is so bad in the face of this. Millions poured into consultants, and they can’t figure it out?

Their vocabulary should be two words:

  • Epstein.

  • Trumpcare.

That’s it.

That’s all they need to say to win.

If they’re feeling frisky, sprinkle in a “huh, you know, maybe a few near-trillionaire buddies of the president shouldn’t rob you with AI?”

They were literally handed a actual pedo cabal and a direct existential crisis even hardcore Republicans are feeling anxiety over, on a silver platter. And somehow they’re messing that up?

I’m dysfunctional as hell, and even I couldn’t mess that up.

"Why aren't people having kids anymore?"

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (4 children)

So glad we ended the shutdown and got nothing out of it because democrats were promised a vote on this that they knew they wouldn't win on.

[–] lukaro@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 month ago (6 children)

A promise we all knew was a lie the moment it was said.

-Republicans who Follow Jesus Christ!

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Conservatives would crucify Jesus Christ if he returned from the dead. Too woke.

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 9 points 1 month ago

It's so sad that these republicans can never fully comprehend the depths of how much the Jesus they worship would absolutely loathe them.

There'd be whole books written about feeding the poor, housing the homeless, healing the sick, dining with the sinners, and deprogramming the republicans.

I have a clinical colleague who worked in the US for a few years. I think their description of US healthcare is best summarized as follows. Has the potential to be the greatest on Earth. In reality, the quality of care provided is far below European standards. She was mortified to discover that diabetics routinely had below knee amputations whereas in the rest of the world, with the exact same clinical picture, care would be provided to prevent worsening of diabetic foot.

The 2nd Amendment is more important than health care. The dumbfucks who voted for this would buy ammunition over insulin shots.

[–] Phunter@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If only we could somehow use the 2nd amendment to ensure access to healthcare.

The Republican eugenics plan is working.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Pedo traitor party doing what they always do. Which is everything they can to harm average Americans.

Gonna be a lot more Americans that hate America going forward. Let's see how that turns out.

Hey y'all. Stop voting for fucking conservatives or doing things that allow conservatives to have control, like not voting or voting for 3rd party candidates that literally cannot win because they are members of non-viable parties that haven't done anything to make themselves viable.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's all well and good because at least Musk is on his way to becoming a trillionaire!

Real talk, why the fuck hasn't there been a West Wing-esque or some sort of satirical tv series that literally just showcases exactly what has been going on for the past 2 decades? Sure there was House of Cards and what not, but I'm talking a literal 1-to-1 copy of all the shit Trump and Republicans have done for 20 years?

That would be more valuable than all the fucking ads and text messages we receive from the DNC, combined.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because the people who own media companies want Trump in charge.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Ah the sweet smell of freedom.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

That is utterly brutal. So sad to see.

[–] pleaseletmein@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 month ago

Are they sick of winning yet?

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

The MAGA morons would still vote for their fucknut orange savior.

This is why I hate the holidays. Because depressing shit like this happens on the holidays. They always did.
