No sane human thinks you need steroids to get an ideal beach body

[–] Kenny2999@lemmy.world 26 points 2 months ago

Exactly. I got even bigger tits from just Toblerone.

It helps, though. Let's not pretend that steroid use isn't extremely normalized among the kind of people that people think of when they imagine an "ideal beach body" (e.g. every muscular Hollywood actor). "Normies" don't necessarily know that.

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I did specify that I was talking about sane humans though.

[–] MutantTailThing@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The ideal each body is obviously seal shaped. That way you can just roll your fat ass from the beach bar to take a piss in the surf.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Now imagine the same seal, but with armor and claws. And a bunch of legs.

I like this list of instructions on how to have a beach body best:

  • have a body
  • go to the beach
[–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)
  • dig up a body
  • bring it to the beach
[–] treesoid@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

The ideal beach body is the one you already have.

Save the environment - reuse your bodies.

But he's thin and making me look bad.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Peak Arnie isn't the normal human ideal. It's a freakish extreme that the vast majority consider going too far.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hey now, you're going to make those of us who look like peak Arnie feel self-conscious about our bodies!

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 months ago

I know you're joking, but we both know that you don't do that to your body unless you already have some pretty major insecurity issues 😄

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Normal human = Arnie in his prime, pumping gear.

The way we've normalized steroid use* is fucking insane. I remember when people used to be ashamed of that shit.

Edit* abuse because apparently the context isn't enough of an indicator of meaning

[–] Matthew@midwest.social 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It says Mr Olympia there is ideal, not that it is attainable by normal humans or that Arnie is one. Should people be ashamed of using exogenous hormones? That includes wide swaths, more than body builders.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's an ideal beach body, not a normal one. Though you're right that Schwarzenegger looked normal compared to what competitive bodybuilders look like today.

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

And the 'ideal' beach body is apparently something that can only be attained by steroid abuse. Arnie in his prime, pumping gear, should not be what anyone thinks is an 'ideal beach body'. This is what I mean about steroid abuse normalization.

False! This is the body with which you beach!

I like to call it lost wages.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

I see no difference

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

Taste like crab, talk like people.

[–] HenriVolney@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

All jokes aside, anybody knows why only exoskeletal animals were able to develop crab-like morphologyies? If it's the most recurring evolution, why not for mammals?

[–] exasperation@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Mammals evolve into ant eaters.

[–] BilSabab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

the perfect organism!

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I think, that being able to towel of ones own back is pretty important in a beach body.
