I was chatting up a polish girl on here a while ago. Her name was Nicole.
Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Hmm, whatever happened to that?
It went away the moment the sub got banned. They were basically feeding the troll.
I think she got murdered. Got a picture of a dead body with the usual caption.
I thought that turned out to be fake or disproven that it was the person.
Yeah it did- I was the one who disproved it (or one of the ones)
No. Impossible. Not even Nicole, the Polish chick from Toronto, has responded to my dick pics.
That's no reason to give up. Post it here, we'll respond!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Nooooooooooooooooooo. :O
maybe you should develop a little more?
I mean, one does not 'find a friend or partner on lemmy', or anywhere else. Friendship, like love, is something that may happen and that will often not happen but we all need to work for it to maybe become a thing. Friends and partners are not stored somewhere, patiently waiting for us to need/want them ;)
Edit: clarifications.
I like the tone of your response. The last sentence is especially insightful.
Thx, much appreciated. Doing my best which is often not that great (English is not my native language)
Friends and partners are not stored somewhere, patiently waiting for us to need/want them ;)
I almost forgot I got a basement full of them.
Well said. It took me many years of my life to realize this.
Maybe, but Lemmy is such a small service that the chances of there being someone using Lemmy, sharing your interests, being compatible with your sexuality, being single, and is somewhere reasonably close to you, is pretty damn low.

Unless they're trans furry and really into Linux.
Do we do meet-ups yet? We don't seem like going-out types, on average.
But we should start reserving a room at comic-cons, at least.
No. This place is for serious discussion of facts and ideas only. Everybody stop having fun and being friendly.
Finding/making friends on Lemmy is definitely possible. There are a handful of people I talk to outside of Lemmy every day that I originally met here a couple years ago.
I think it helps tremendously if you can find places to interact with others that are less combative than the news/politics/etc that can dominate the feeds here. If you have personal interests in music, movies, tv, or even just want to have casual conversations, there are plenty of communities for that here. Those places give everyone a chance to "break the ice" on a slightly more personal level that helps develop lasting friendships.
Anything is possible.
The question you have to ask yourself is the probability of it worth making a concerted effort to achieve it?
but also the people pmming you on reddit or lemmy are not seeking to be your friend. they are scammers/bots.
Hey, the 4 or 5 times I pmmed people on Lemmy were definitely not to scam them. The jury is still out on being a bot, though...
Is it possible? Sure, I guess.
Advisable? AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH no.
It's a worldwide site with a sort of small user base, anything is possible but it seems a long shot compared to going outside or talking to your friends, networking, dating sites, pretty much anything local seems a better chance.
Possible? Sure. Likely? Nah.
I know reddit sucks and all but check out if your local cities have subreddits or if there are any similar groups on other platforms, usually they are at least somewhat active and always have meetups or groups on other platforms such as discord going or whatever else, people there tend to be sociable in person and still understand internet culture. there are a few of such lemmy communities but not nearly as much as reddit at the moment, that could also be a opportunity for y'all btw if you start your own.
Real talk, I love the idea of being part of the Lemmy contingent that 'crashes' (see: participates respectfully in) local reddit meetups.
Not a huge board game guy though, which is the most established one in my neck of the woods...
Yes. Hi this is your friendly neighborhood Nigerian Prince. I am having a little bit of political troubles and I require your assistance. Plz send 500 bitcoins, and when I secure my kingdom, I will repay you 10x. XOXO 🤗
I mean anything is POSSIBLE. People meet and date and even get married from online communications all the time.
Why not? I've heard of people who have met their spouses through World of Warcraft. I've made some friends online over the years. If the vibe is right, you can make connections with people just about anywhere.
Maybe. Depends on what you're into.
If it's suicidal depression and mid-2000s mmorpgs, then I'm your guy!
Possible does not mean probable, so yes, it's possible, but don't hold your breath.
What if I'm underwater?
I don’t think being underwater increases your odds of finding love on lemmy.
Ok thank you, it was worth a try.
I've got a mermaid friend who's a model and single? Nevermind, I'm probably too late. It was a nice thought, anyway.
Not a good one.
In a thing like this you can meet kindred spirits but personally I don't really view knowing someone online and in meatspace as anywhere near equivalent.
I think the ratio is a bit skewed heavily towards 20something guys. So maybe if that’s your thing? Idk I’ve had some good exchanges with folks but that’s about it for me.
I feel this. I heard staments voice when he was recording a video of his cat and was instantly crushing.
Oh really? Were you?
I wish I was that succinct. I got a personalize sonnet from staments 😽. I listened twice to hear the emphasis on "luscious", very seductive
Just like MySpace had Tom, joining Lemmy automatically adds me as your friend. Unlike Tom, I cannot be removed. We're friends forever now.
Hard to find a partner.
The laws of physics don't prevent it, thus it is possible. But the probability doesn't seem particularly good.
Don't do that
