Hard to tell. Sounds like they're perhaps using biopolymers in place of leather (so pleather, but derived from plants), but it seems like the only real requirement is that these "premium" interiors don't use animal products.

The article doesn't really go into any significant detail about what has actually been replaced, and what it's been replaced with.

Cool, cheap stuff being sold as premium !

Pfft, that's nothin'. All my old cars' interiors are "vegan" too, because that's what happens when you just have cloth seats to begin with!

I've got a 2000 Sprinter and that's vegan as there's no leather.

Unless you class plastic as non-vegan

But is it certified vegan? I guess that's the difference. Not sure it matters though.

I used to run it off chip fat as well, does that mean it's double vegan?

What happens when the use of petrol is harming animals (global warming, air pollution, etc)?

Do (virtually) all vegans consider petrol to be vegan?

Still not doing much to compete with the Chinese car industry
