Except that she's getting pushed to convert now as the result of this. So, typical GOP tactic, make an insane comparison and then use the halfway point to force others to move the direction you want.
I think Vance is publicly making the push so that when she doesn't convert, he can say that their religious differences became incompatible. He gets to marry Ms. Arizona, she gets to be the second lady, and Usha somehow gets the blame for not being faithful to her husband.

3 -6 months - Vance and wife split, She loves him very much but won't convert. we're both committed to caring for their children who you won't see much of again
6 months to a year , Vance and the grieving mrs kirk are supporting each other through these difficult times.
by end of year two they are married.
will be sped up if trumps health takes a turn, bonus points if the current mrs vance dies within 4 years

Christians use 2 Corinthians 2:14 as an excuse for divorce "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols?" To divorce and remarry is biblically considered adultery; but Erika is a widow, and if Usha won't convert JD gets a free pass on divorce, and Christians will just excuse it as the righteous thing for JD to do.
