Same reason why gays aren't called bumholesexuals.
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
New band name!
Anyone else remember the B3ta newsletter? I mean, it's still going, but still. Anyway, they ran a competition for a long time to get the work "bumsexual" printed in a newspaper. Not sure if anyone succeeded.
Because they don't fuck the leather.
Because it's not about the leather.
Edit: Yo, a user from a kbin (mbin?) server! I don't see those around too often.
For some it kind of is, the leather subculture is a thing, and needless to say leather is a pretty important part of it.
I am not at all qualified to really go into it too much beyond just pointing out that it exists.
I do have a little anecdote about it though. I know someone who is an all-around very kinky person, into all kinds of fairly extreme bondage stuff. She entered and won some sort of "Ms Leather [city we live in]" competition/pageant thing a few years back but there was a bit of controversy about it because she wasn't part of the leather subculture, even though there was a pretty decent amount of overlap between her own kinky interests and the leather community, and so she decided to resign her title and apologize over it.
Oh, leather is absolutely a thing.
But it's a subculture of a subculture.
It's like saying, "Why don't we call all car drivers Tesla Enthusiasts? Because they seem to like them very much."
Yo, a user from a kbin (mbin?) server! I don't see those around too often.
There are dozens of us. DOZENS!
Yeah I kinda know, it was a generic term to make the joke work. This word just popped up in my mind so I had to share.
P.S. Yes I migrated here after the main kbin instance collapsed, it's a fork and at the moment works fairly well.
Not all kinksters like leather!
I mean... I do like leather..
But it's not because I'm a kinkster!
(But in all seriousness, many of us, myself included, don't really like leather very much. The leather thing is a very stereotypical portrayal. That being said, it IS the best collar material imo.)
-1 for having to take it off to shower.
Because bondage, S&M and the leather community are all different things. Sure they're all under the kink umbrella but that doesn't mean somebody into one thing is into All of the other things. Most people I've met in the leather community aren't even into bondage.
Probably because it’s lame
It's Monday, but I already know what the 'best thing I've read all week' is.
blame the vegans
Vegans who are into bondage are hard core. Without silk and leather, they have to use hemp rope. That stuff is scratchy! (This is assuming said vegan is also concerned about using petroleum derived products)
