The Time to Move Forward Is Now

Ah, 2021. A time of triumph and jubilation. Democrats coming together and saying "We won last time so now we'll never lose again" and proceeding to write the opposition party off as toothless has-beens. What a magical moment for our country.

Why can't we go back to brunch? I think the real reason is because leftist voters stabbed us all in the back. So we just need to pivot further to the Right if we want to reclaim our beautiful brunch-time again.

leftist voters stabbed us all in the back.

Victory was assured! It is the only explanation!

He literally mentioned turning the military on cities earlier during the rambling speech he’s giving right now, in between talking about the quality of paper he likes and complaining about not getting a Nobel prize, because people are apparently shooting firefighters off ladders.

[–] Fuck_u_spez_@sh.itjust.works 68 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Don't worry everyone, Chuck Schumer is going to write one of his most strongly worded letters ever.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 month ago

He's already admitted that the only reason he's in Congress is to keep the left pro-Israel. And even by that metric he's a loser.

And send eight overwrought emails about how much it would help if you donated right now.

Like in Germany, Italy, and Spain it will not be the Liberals that fight back. Liberals will bend the knee and beg for forgiveness while Social Democrats will protest until the military massacres them all. But it will be the revolutionaries, the Socialists, the Anarchists, and the Communists that will resist.

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Then obviously the communists make the anarchists face the wall

[–] Mynameisallen@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

Obviously

Then we'll all get lined up and shot by fascists Or just Communists and liberals Who've been waiting all along to become the fascist cops

[–] wildncrazyguy138@fedia.io 39 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Totally on board with your premise, they do need to punch up as much as they can. And it looks like they’re trying to do so this round of shutdowns.

Nonetheless, this ultimately comes down to us. All of us. We can’t just sit here behind a computer and meme ourselves out of this disaster. We have to get out in the streets. We have to yell get mad and be angry. We have to hit them where they feel it. We have to organize. Get with upset farmers, get with the military vets whose benefits have been cut, get with the middleclass milquetoast moms who are starting to feel like something isn’t right with their grocery bills.

Each and every individual one of us is a single drop in the ocean, but, if we all move in the same direction, we become a crashing tsunami.

They haven't made plans for that yet. Right now they are focused on fabricating national emergencies to cancel the midterms as the republicans are set to lose over a dozen seats as they destroy their communities and people tend to switch parties during midterms when the economy is struggling.

He is also threatening all the top military brass to start killing american citizens and getting rid of anyone the nazi administration doesn't like.

We are at that moment in time were shit is about to get real crazy and most of the country will be too busy and uneducated to do anything about it, just as planned.

The Democrats forced Trump to do all this. They're the real bad guys!

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The Democrats forced Trump to do all this.

The Democrats helped Trump do all this.

[–] catsarebadpeople@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Almost as much as protests voters helped Trump do all this. Almost as much as the both sides are the same rhetoric helped Trump do all this.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (5 children)

protests voters

Which state flipped based on protest voters?

Almost as much as protests voters helped Trump do all this.

Gee, if only there were some way democrats could have got those voters back on board. But they were too insignificant to matter until centrists needed someone to blame for the results of their unwillingness to represent people not named cheney or netanyahu.

When the electorate is polarized, you win by energizing your base to get more people to the polls. Abandoning your base one vulnerable group at a time not only fails to curry favor with the fascists that centrists desperately want to befriend, it also depresses turnout from your base as well. But since centrists like moving to the right and don't want to stop, they treat their positions as sacrosanct and it is the voters who must capitulate. After all, our politicians capitulate by example so frequently.

If they were too insignificant to listen to, you don't get to blame them. If they are significant enough to blame, they're kingmakers and you should have been listening to them.

eyes on the New York mayoral election.

It'll be a prelude to the general election.

And trump is already interfering in that election. and I bet he'll deploy the national guard during the elections. Or straight up jail a candidate.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

And major Democratic Party leaders hadn't endorsed Mamdani. The Dems will just play the fiddle while DC burns.

It's quite literally on the administrations to-do list.

If you're worried about election integrity under the administration, please do volunteer, or work directly for your elections board if you can. We can really use the help, no matter where you are from.

If you have some spare cash, don't be afraid to print out some fact sheets for people to take with them when voting, as long as you don't violate canvassing laws of course.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (7 children)

The fuck do you want them to do? Ya'll mfs voted the fascism back in after their first failed attempt, you can't just pass your blame off to some dude in the minority party.

Every single person who could vote and did not vote DNC is responsible. Every single one.

Every single person who ever shared an anti Biden or Harris meme or spoke critically of them publicly before the election contributed to this problem. Everyone who was able to but did not openly endorse them or volunteer contributed to this problem.

[–] korazail@lemmy.myserv.one 7 points 1 month ago (6 children)

That is a spicy take, but I agree. Anyone who looked at Trump and Biden/Harris and expressed things like "Biden is kinda old' or 'I don't like Harris' position on Gaza' fucked everything up.

We didn't get a democratic primary for this election, so we were in a place where we had a single option... it was Biden, up until it wasn't, and then it was Harris. IN ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY ANY CASE, either of those two would have been better than Trump. Anyone who held off voting for them or stayed home out of some relative-to-fascism-minor-issue -- or worse, voted for trump out of either approval or to 'send a message' -- ruined it for everyone.

If you're reading this comment and annoyed by my tone, just re-read the meme. This will very likely happen and we warned you. The people in power right now will never give it up and are actively dismantling the ways to stop them.

Trump is pushing right now to make us revolt and be violent so that he has an excuse to take even more power; to declare martial law or send in his pet police force or similar, even if it's a tenuous reason, and we've seen how the people who should stop him will just roll over out of fear. This was all blueprinted in Project 2025. They told us what they would do and are actively doing it.

I don't know if the folks suggesting legal, passive, protest responses are right or if we need to organize and fuck shit up right now like the ones stating that a revolution is the only way to stop this. I'm just a dude with a family and I'm part of the problem. I think our collectively meek response is going to be the end of the USA.

Empires fall. The USA as we know it is likely over but dictatorships also end, and there's a likelihood that something will rise from the ashes.

I will be very happy to look back at this post in 20 years and think about how I was wrong and catastrophizing.

I wouldn't go as far as saying sharing a meme as politicians ahould be mocked, but yeah, when all you had to do to stop a nazi is show up to a ballot box and say "fuck off" and you didn't even do that, you are culpable for the shit they pull.

No, no, no. The more accurate Dem response is: "guess we're gonna die then."

Pokémon you can't go to the polls anymore.

[–] BlueMagma@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Is this true ? Did trump actually do this ?

Genuinely asking, as a french citizen I haven't found any other mention of this anywhere

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 13 points 1 month ago (3 children)

No, but Trump just recalled all the generals to make them watch a rambling speech where he said he's gonna deploy them to do whatever to protestors, bring back battleships, and use the military against "enemies within America"

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Here's hoping the generals have spines

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

Here's to hoping they're not agreeing with him. Our true blessing is that he flew them around the world in a dog and pony show and had his chief alcoholic insult most of them a few times before he got on stage, so even if they agree with the idea, they won't like his actions.
