I’m disappointed in the American people for allowing Trump back into the White House!

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 38 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm well beyond disappointed and into active disgust.

It wont help you feel better but more Americans voted against him than for him the first time. Hell, even on the number of people who didn't vote are framed as if it would change the outcome when unless they live in very specific locations it wouldn't because the system is fucked.

Not telling you to be less angry here, I encouraged Canadians to feel this resentment towards me and my fellow Americans. I'm just trying to explain the shitshow more than corporate interests care to.

[–] engene@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

As disappointed as I am with those who voted for him, I’m equally sorry for those that didn’t. Good luck to us all πŸ˜”

Just like Trump feels his rape victims shouldn’t complain.

Uh huh, got it.

Fuck your country.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 64 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Threatens to annex country

Upset about smoke while denying climate change

Actively waging a trade war

Damm those Canadians are so rude and ungrateful with their civil boycott of american goods and travel. How could they develop such an anti American attitude? Bet this wouldn't be happening if they would just join us already so we could send our national guard into all their cities and deport everyone we don't like.

[–] AstralPath@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

Its the real life equivalent of that Eric Andre meme

[–] Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca 54 points 2 months ago

anti-American sentiment in Canada

You have no fucking idea.

[–] TheAgeOfSuperboredom@lemmy.ca 52 points 2 months ago (1 children)

As a Canadian I am going to say this as politely as I can: "Get fucked!"

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago (2 children)
[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 months ago

Sorry but it should be β€œGet Fucked, eh!”

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"please Fuck off eh, thank you"

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

"Would you kindly go fuck yourself please, thanks eh"

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 34 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm so sick of all this faux outrage bullshit performance art where they attack someone and then cry foul when people get upset about it. Calling it a trade war is "a dangerous place to go."? You know what's actually a dangerous place to go. STARTING A FUCKING TRADE WAR. We're not the bad guys for pointing it out.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Calling it a rrade war is "a dangerous place to go" but continuing threats to our sovereignty is okay? The double standard is insane.

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

American exceptionalism/Manifest Destiny

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Disappointed? We need to get to the point where he is β€œaghast”.

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 11 points 2 months ago

Horrified would also be acceptable. Maybe terrified.

[–] LeFantome@programming.dev 29 points 2 months ago

Good. Let’s go for something a little stronger now.

[–] LeFantome@programming.dev 27 points 2 months ago

Every time this guy comes to Canada, we need to ask him if Premier Trump would consider making the US the 11th Province. If he gets upset, we can be disappointed in that.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They know what they're doing.

Now they're disappointed. Soon, they'll be angry. Then they'll have no choice but to do something about it. Mark my words.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I am afraid of what that something maybe, a fascist is not going to be the one who changes.

[–] cecilkorik@piefed.ca 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Prepare for war while we still can. If we're incredibly lucky maybe we won't need it, but if so, it will be because we did prepare and that made us an unpleasant and dangerous looking target. Bullies always target perceived vulnerability. We need to do everything we can to fix that perception. Even showing them this anti-American sentiment helps. They need to understand we will not be pushovers, no matter how badly we might seem to be poised to lose at least some territory and/or treasure if they tried to actually use force or severe coercion to take our lunch money, as bullies do.

If we look like too much trouble, they may think twice and try to go bully central America or something instead, I have no idea how this will all work out, but I do know we're in big fucking danger, and we need to do everything we can to make sure they know we're going to become a big fucking problem for them if they try it.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

We have a habit of drunkingly burning down the White House when they attack us, so there is that.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

Trump needs to find a war by next fall to prevent the mid term elections.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago

Well. Fuck that guy, then. He can eat a bag of dicks, for all I care.

[–] swagmoney@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

fuck you and your disappointment lol

[–] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

This is his attempt at emotional manipulation? What kind of Boomer diplomacy is this? Might as well use that lead addled brain to call us worthless. Lmao.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Or a pretext for invasion.

Edit: imagine a quote from a Russian ambassador to Ukraine 15 years ago -- "I'm disappointed that I came to Ukraine β€” a Ukraine that it is very, very difficult to find Ukrainians who are passionate about the Russian-Ukrainian relationship".

Edit 2: The Beaverton hits the nail on the head - https://www.thebeaverton.com/2025/09/us-ambassador-threatens-to-tariff-annex-and-bomb-canada-if-anti-american-sentiment-doesnt-improve/

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

This is not for us it's for their base. It's a manipulation tactic designed to rile up support for attacking Canada eventually.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you try being nicer instead of being pricks, we may reconsider.

[–] terath@sh.itjust.works 31 points 2 months ago

Nah. I’m not buying shit from a fascist nation.

[–] olbaidiablo@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 months ago

Well it's a good thing none of us give a shit. Other than Danielle Smith and pp, of course.

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

US: breaks ties with Canada.

Also US: disappointed ties with Canada are broken.

[–] AstralPath@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

warns those counter-tariffs and continued boycotts will still taint the feedback from Americans in upcoming public consultations.

Since when do you care about what the public thinks? If you did care, you'd be kissing our asses instead of sucking Trump's dick.

Hoekstra said "there will be a whole lot of comments" coming in from American businesses, and "they are not going to be positive."

Huh... I WONDER WHY? I wonder what the source of the negativity might be? Is it your friendly neighbor to the north that you've been abusing and threatening for no good reason? Or is it the orange piss baby that you've elected to run your country? Hm... There's truly no way of knowing. πŸ™„

I'd like to give a shoutout to Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne for not capitulating to American bullshit.

Peter Hoekstra can get the fuck out of my country and never come back. - How's that for sentiment?

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Part of the fascist playbook is to appear like a victim to further weld together their in-group.

Americans will act transgressively and then claim to be victimized.

What a fucking cunt

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 months ago
[–] Leisureguy@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

I imagine his disappointment is nothing compared to the disappointment so many feel about the US. The US has disappointed the world β€” well, except for Russia, North Korea, China, and authoritarians in general.

[–] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Shove your disappointment up your ass, Bozo.

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago
