Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss
  3. GPrime85

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

This elicited a genuine smile from me.

There is a comic that goes into this premise called: "Y the last man". It is an amazing read if you are into comics. It paints an interesting view of what would happen if all men suddenly all died except for one.

[–] gaybriel_fr_br@jlai.lu 5 points 11 months ago (3 children)

So just a wish-fulfillment harem then.

[–] Senal@programming.dev 11 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It's really not, definitely worth a read

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think there were some situations that could have ended like that (reverse harem?), had he not been so well protected. Also I like that the women just largely adapted, because they had to.

His only use was protecting their future, not their present

[–] Senal@programming.dev 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah, it could definitely have gone a different way and there were certainly actors pushing for that with various motives.

That it didn't end up that way but still touched on the topic in general made it a much better read IMO.

[–] GorGor@startrek.website 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Ive heard good things about that comic, less so about the TV series.

A dark comedy take is Creamerie. Definitely recommend.

I vaguely recall the TV show (and that it wasn't great).

Also, if any of you are old enough to remember the TV show "sliders" there was an episode that dealt with this same general scenario.

Probably tied to a machine that hmmm. Suck you dry all day long. I don't he would have much fun.

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

But if there was only one person with a dick alive, wouldn't it still restrict the gene pool way too much, as every child conceived after the mass disappearance of penis-owners would have the same father, and thus they would have no choice but to either reproduce with older women or their half-siblings? So I'm not sure if even that could prevent human exctinction.

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I assume young girls didn't disappear. So any male children could have partners close to their age, just a little older.

[–] gaybriel_fr_br@jlai.lu -1 points 11 months ago

For the author that's probably a fantasy, who comes up with that otherwise? Yikes though for that mental imagery 😬

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

It isn't and I'd like to read the sexy parody but afaik it doesn't exist.

It's somehow both feminist and whatever the male version is; it shows how direly certain careers need women, and because of it, how essential men are to society since they do work women don't as much.

One of the earliest shown characters is a woman that goes from model to ... Mass grave corpse collection/garbage truck driver

that's brilliant, especially the paper cup

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That's the first time I came across the Pinkertons, and then later realised they were a real agency.

Also, I love the ending

[–] Deadlytosty@feddit.nl 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah the end had me in tears. Really impactful and beautifully done.

[–] theUwUhugger@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Femboys are still there, nothing was lost πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Yea? Thats why they would remain? Thats why I am not worried?

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Anyone who isn't gay wouldn't be worried tbh

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

They should be

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk -1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

in terms of repopulating the human race, I hear you.

in terms of 'traditional' men finding girly romantic partners, trust me, there'll be no issue

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

in terms of repopulating the human race

Thankfully a brave soul is doing his best to research this topic.

So, a lot of trad guys lean republican, and while it's irresponsible to say all of them are closeted, a shocking number of them are.

They should, they're using your religion as a cudgel.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I am aware. And I hate it. Especially when people assume that I'm one of them. It causes me deep distress how people hide behind Christ as a justification for immoral actions.

[–] Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's almost like the instruction manual is full of justifying immoral actions

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The Bible is full of justifications for immoral actions, is it any surprise those that follow it do the same thing?

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago
[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago

If it's the closest thing they'll get to their idealised version of a woman?

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I guess it's only fair after that kill all men incident, that someone does a kill all women to.

But it would be better if we actually treated each other like human beings instead.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 3 points 11 months ago

We do treat each other like human beings. Human beings treat each other awfully.

[–] Aaron_Davis@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

This is reminding me of a song.

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 4 points 11 months ago

A bit over the top but it gets the job done.

[–] M137@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Only one female smurf type fantasy. She wants all the dick to herself.
