I like how Jeffrey Epstein is around number 30 on his own list.

[–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 6 points 2 hours ago

It's alphabetical.

RETRACTION

A previous version of this article contained a list of names purportedly listed on the Jeffrey Epstein flight logs. This was an error; the listed names were mentioned in court documents connected to alleged Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre's claim against Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

This is misinformation.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 hours ago

Yeah this "Redacted" person sure is on the list a bunch of times... Also, it must be one of those single name deals like "Cher" or "Madonna"

(/s because this is the internet)

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 16 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Oh no! He's on the list. What are we going to do!?

Seriously though. If alligator auzwich didn't raise an eyebrow, confirming something already known is supposed to do it?

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 7 points 11 hours ago

If conservatives hate pedo’s as much as they say they do they should at least be a little interested

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 11 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I wonder who the redacted people are. Also, look at the Streisand effect coming into view.

[–] krakenfury@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 11 hours ago

The official line is that they are victims who were trafficked.

Pam Bondi said back in February that they would release the list as soon as they had redactions for all of the victims.

[–] arin@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

The real wealthy owners who direct the political facade

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 149 points 20 hours ago (3 children)

While I want them to release as much information as possible, this list seems misleading. The article says this is a list of people who flew on the plane, and many of them are not accused of any wrongdoing.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I’d be quite surprised if Cate Blanchett was looking for erotic massages from underage girls. The list of people who ever flew on the plane is going to be massive, and not all of them will be the type of people who he allowed into his criminal conspiracy. It’s just like how many more people attended a Diddy Party than attended a Diddy Party After Dark.

[–] bluesheep@sh.itjust.works 17 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Names appearing on the unsealed list are not an Epstein "client list" or a list of those who were on his flights. Many of those whose names appear in the documents aren't accused of wrongdoing.

The way I read it this list means pretty much jack all. It's just names mentioned in a court case - not a client nor fly list.

I won't be surprised if there would be significant overlap, but without the actual list there's little to say.

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 12 hours ago

Totally agree. Epstein had thousands of contacts in his lifetime. The “willing to fly on a plane” list is likely going to be larger than the “willing to fuck a kid” list, even though some people will be on both.

[–] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 60 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

Much like with a diddy party, part of the question then becomes “how many of them didnt attend a diddy party after dark because they knew what happened after dark?”. How many of these people might not have been molesters, but still knew about the shit that was going on? How many of them saw the underage girls around without actually being involved with them being there at all?

I work in a very affluent environment environment, and its a relatively open secret that 10-20 years ago it wasnt uncommon for adult house parties to knowingly invite local underage highschool girls (for what Im sure were not good reasons)

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

There are a lot of sides to this. Some of them may have seen things and been oblivious, others may have seen things that registered later, while still others may have known about the crimes. That is why we need more than a flight log list.

I grew up in a very affluent family, and attended all sorts of political and corporate events in my youth along with my cousins. None of us were exploited or invited there to be exploited—our families thought it was good for us to meet influential and powerful people because they (foolishly) believed those people represented the best of American society. In some cases they were, in other cases they were later found out to be criminals. The thing that makes these people so dangerous is that they have many different modes, and are masters of switching masks depending on the audience.

[–] krakenfury@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 11 hours ago

If this played out like a procedural crime drama, the DoJ would be interviewing everyone on these flight logs to figure out who is connected to crimes and how much everyone knew at the time. That will never happen, since all of these people have lawyers on retainer and won't answer anything.

I mean, even if they are innocent and were totally unaware of any wrongdoing, they still wouldn't willfully open themselves up to this questioning.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 20 hours ago

Newsweek? Misleading? Never.

[–] Pronell@lemmy.world 27 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Hah, Kevin Spacey is on the list after all.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (3 children)

There are ~~two~~ four REDACTED names on that list.

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)
[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

You are correct, random person! I was too hasty in my assessment! Edited!

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

Just making sure we are seeing the same list...

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 12 hours ago

Maybe minors?

[–] malloc@lemmy.world -2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

so much for "transparency" from the orange man administration. Probably Trump or Trump Jr on the list.

[–] Saik0Shinigami@lemmy.saik0.com 7 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Trump is in the list... You could have read it.

[–] malloc@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

oof, what a blunder. No more late night Lemmy for me

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 46 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

who would have guessed??!?

Jeffery Epstein is on the list!!!

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

I mean, he was definitely on the plane a lot, presumably. How come he's 28th on the list though?

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

I wonder who those redacted are if Trump is still on the list

Also, I'm sorry for the actors not on the list, but Hollywood must die

[–] VeryInterestingTable@jlai.lu 5 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

My gess is most likely victims that should remain anonymous, potentially deceased or under protection.

[–] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 14 points 20 hours ago (1 children)
[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 8 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

They tried to hide him down the list

[–] bagelberger@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

It's (for the most part) listed alphabetically

[–] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 2 points 17 hours ago

What list?!?!?

/s

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

Well, if I was unlucky enough to be attracted to minors, too would try to get in a position of power or get rich enough to be above the law, like a lot of these people...

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Stephen King went there defending Trump and he's not even on this list?

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

Stephen Hawking is though

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 12 hours ago (3 children)

That's a surprise to read. Where'd you see that?

[–] citizensongbird@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Don't worry, you're right to be surprised. It's the current conspiracy theory leaped upon by morons. Stephen King recently claimed the "Epstein list" doesn't actually exist, and people automatically jumped to the conclusion that he was agreeing with Trump, who is also saying the list doesn't exist. It seems far more reasonable, given King's very public disdain for Trump, that he's pointing out the "Epstein list" has only ever been talked about by people who used it for political advantage.

Think about it: you've been hearing for years about the list from a wide variety of talking heads and everyday people, but have you ever seen any actual evidence that such a list exists besides a bunch of "trust me bro"?

I hope the list exists. I'd like it to exist. But it's perfectly plausible that it was just another lie by the party famous for lying.

[–] iturnedintoanewt@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Sigh...I also was rather surprised to see this. So apparently he went 'he didn't kill himself' back in the day, but somehow the list can't real to him.
