Elon Musk declared on X the formation of a new political party amid his ongoing feud with President Donald Trump over the "Big Beautiful Bill."

"Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom," Musk wrote in an X post on Saturday.

The Tesla CEO had said Friday on his social media platform that one way the new party could work is to focus on winning just a handful of Senate seats and House districts that could serve as the "deciding vote" on "contentious laws," given the "razor-thin legislative margins" in Congress.

In response, Trump said on his Truth Social platform on Sunday that Musk had gone "completely off the rails."

To be honest, they both got off the rails long, long ago.

Sun Tzu says, never inturupt your enemy when they are making a mistake.

Did you just interrupt him while he was making a mistake?!?!?

Let it be known, now and forevermore, that floo is not an enemy of SatansMaggotyCumFart. Spread the news far and wide.

Do with this information as you wish.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I think I only have two enemies on here and one of them is @Nougat@fedia.io.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If I am your enemy, it is only because you have selected me so.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Nougat@fedia.io 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Epistemologically speaking, I don't, because I can't.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

Let it be known, now and forevermore, that Nougat is the sworn enemy of SatansMaggotyCumFart.

Let it also be known that multiple things can be inferred from the previous statement, each ickier than the last.

Do with this information as you wish.

Please split the right-wing vote. Please

[–] orclev@lemmy.world 19 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It will almost certainly pull some votes from Trump but whether that's enough to make a difference or not will depend on if the DNC can get out of the way long enough to find a candidate anybody actually wants to vote for or if they'll run another "we'll change nothing and you'll like it" candidate.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 18 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

if they’ll run another “we’ll change nothing and you’ll like it” candidate.

Newsom is already prepping for that role.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago

Newsom has a solid chance to get primaries, fact of the matter is he is the worst California has to offer and is only so useful as a potential martyr should the feds kill him. Or maybe I'm just a Inland Imperial who would happily feed folks to the waters over at greenspot.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 17 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

The right finally gets a Jill Stein. Good luck with that.

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 3 points 7 hours ago

I mean in fairness, they've always had Jill Steins. We can bitch about the spoiler effect and yell at our guys for voting, but election after election when you look at people focusing the blame on the greens when we lose, liberterians and other right wing parties, always have more votes than left wing 3rd parties.

Also sadly it sounds like musk is actually planning to do the strategic right way to do a new party. IE focus on house and senate seats to basically to threaten narrow votes.

In short it sounds more like he's making the republican's "Manchins".

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 10 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

He's not wrong, there are people disillusioned with both parties. But if Elon thinks we're all idiots, and will flock to other nazi party, I've got a bridge to sell him.

Maybe some of the center right, and magas who've been personally wronged by the Trumpsters will swing that way, but he's gonna find the left isn't quite as stupid as he thinks.

Split the vote ding dong, go on, do it. I dare you.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

but he's gonna find the left isn't quite as stupid as he thinks.

I wish I shared your optimism. Nothing in my experience of life tells me that betting on the left, especially their elected representatives, to not do something stupid is a good plan.

All aboard the crazy train, we're going of the rails.

[–] logi@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

The NaXi Party for that Chinese dictator angle.

[–] thallamabond@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

This is not a political party, it is something else.

A component of a political platform is often called a plank – the opinions and viewpoints about an individual topic, as held by a party, person, or organization. The word "plank" depicts a component of an overall political platform, as a metaphorical reference to a basic stage made of boards or planks of wood

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_platform

Platforms are built with planks, Elon has no platform.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 14 points 9 hours ago

The right-wing political power machine has been running on vibes instead of sincerely held beliefs for a while now.

People who like Musk better than Trump will just make up bullshit about both to justify their choice.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If it de-thrones Trump, it can't be all that bad

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 1 points 7 hours ago

Well doesn't sound like it's going presidential, and currently I don't think if trump goes for a 3rd term, it will involve elections.

I mean, we don't have high regard for the guy that killed hitler.

[–] Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

What an idiot
