I scroll Lemmy.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 31 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I watch birds. I'm not even that old. But birds can be interesting.

Dude. I started feeding birds in my garden around 3 years ago, I wasnt even that interested in birds, now I have a shit load of regulars and I love watching those little bastards.

[–] kratoz29@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Really? how so?

Honest question.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 6 points 1 year ago

You can see the different personalities between species and between individual birds. They are often smarter than you would think.

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

The same way anything can be interesting.

Games. Board or video.

Usually with an old TV series in the background.

And Kitty time. Can't forget them!

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've recently started watching Columbo and it's actually a great series to have on in the background.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

We're at the last season of Malcom in the Middle.

How have I never seen this until now?! Such a good show, and as we were about halfway through the series, they announced a reunion season coming out soon. (Just like every other show, but this one I'm actually excited to see) Talk about perfect timing!

Lately…eat out of boredom. I’ve been trying to curb it, but not succeeding. I’ve got 8 days off starting tomorrow. Not looking good for my waistline. 😔

[–] Kissaki@feddit.org 12 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I never feel bored. The closest, I guess, is feeling lost and not motivated for anything or stressed and jumpy between things.

In those cases or more when I don't "have anything to do" in general, I open Lemmy, or YouTube, or watch anime or some series, read manga, or watch documentaries. Depending on motivation and mood I open games or do open source or personal project work. Sometimes open specific news or test websites, or my RSS feed accumulator. Or do whatever else is open to do.

[–] Montagge@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 year ago

I don't remember the last time I was bored lol

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You mean besides masturbate?

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

perhaps they take that as a given and mean 'after'

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 year ago
[–] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Usually either put on a record, take the dog for a walk, or diddle the skittle

[–] Libb@piefed.social 7 points 1 year ago

Being bored is not a bad thing. If by being bored you mean 'not doing something' and not being 'busy' because then it means one can start thinking by oneself. Something that seems to be severely lacking in our so modern and so constantly busy societies.

If you want to know what are my usual activities, beside welcoming boredom, I would say: read, write, paint, go out for a walk (that's amazing too, for the body as well as the mind), spend time with my spouse, making stuff with my hands.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I read an obscene amount of science fiction and play a lot of classic wow.

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

and play a lot of classic wow.

I'm wondering if you can tell me where I can find Mankrik's wife.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I've never played horde, but she's at 49, 50. I can give you a straight answer since I haven't had to deal with horde barrens chat.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

I used to eat out of boredom, and I gained a lot of weight. Then I took up the guitar during Covid. Now when I get bored, and tempted to eat something, I pick up the guitar and start playing. Soon I forget that I was bored, and forget about eating. I've lost 85 pounds, and I'm still losing.

[–] kratoz29@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 year ago

Customize Android root stuff, watch anime, play videogames, that has been my life as of lately.

[–] quediuspayu@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Embrace boredom, that's where the best ideas come from.

[–] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Play music, read a book, draw something, play a game, or watch a movie.

Can’t say that happens frequently enough for me to have a set thing to do.

The list of things that need to get done never seems to get shorter. So I’m usually working though my todo list. Recreation time has to be scheduled sadly.

[–] Fondots@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Read, watch TV/movies/YouTube, play video games, take the dog for a walk, work on one of my many hobbies that I've been neglecting, see if any of my friends wants to do something, take a nap, listen to music,

And if I get really bored, there's probably something I'm supposed to be cleaning or some other chore that needs attention

[–] shartworx@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Put things into other things. Take things out of other things. Push stuff. Sleep. Look at stuff.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm doing one right now, and you're reading it. Other times I write scenarios for my D&D campaign, do 3d printing, and wiring/coding for IoT devices. Also making cookies. Also eating the cookies.

[–] hexagonwin@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 year ago

scroll lemmy/bsky/hn, watch anime

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 1 year ago

Take a walk/with a fur baby, play with/pet a fur baby, clean (always something), nap, video, read, scroll, meditate/pray, talk to a neighbor.

[–] scytale@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

Watch a movie, listen to music while browsing lemmy, or take a nap. If there’s something that needs to be done like repairs or chore, I do that too.

[–] Surenho@lemmy.wtf 3 points 1 year ago

Play the guitar or harmonica, design a boardgame or a ttrpg, play videogames, check lemmy/youtube/nebula, be in my head. But I'm seldom bored, more like "if I have free time for some minutes".

[–] kubok@fedia.io 3 points 1 year ago

I wish that I had the luxury to be bored.

[–] BossDj@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Text around see who else is home and bored. Time to not be at home.

If that fails, scroll scroll scroll then maybe some gaming (marvel rivals and death stranding right now)

Mostly make stuff. With lego, 3D printing, video editing, line rider, beat saber, html and css, Krita, writing, and whatever else I need for a project. I also like playing board games and video games like celeste, tetris, and blue prince.

[–] Green_Mouse@piefed.social 2 points 1 year ago

Sometimes I lie down and listen to music or a long video, sometimes I play with my dog, sometimes I just rest, or play some games from my backlog.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Time for leisure is great. Read a book, play an instrument, daydream, learn something new, challenge your beliefs about whether certain institutions are beneficial or not, take a walk, ask someone in a position of authority subversive questions, fly a kite, take a nap.

Recently I've been solving mystery geocaches (puzzles so you find the coordinates for the cache)

[–] Crankenstein@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Nap

Disassociate to music.

Jork it.
