Not today, FBI... Not today

[–] match@pawb.social 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

my local area is typified by PURE CLEAN WATER

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 8 points 11 months ago

So that rules out most developed areas.

[–] JustAPenguin@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

In my country, the most renowned chefs all work at a hardware store

[–] postnataldrip@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Went to one the other day, no snags out the front. Devo

[–] Justdaveisfine@midwest.social 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Around here I'd say beef brisket sandwich with sweet BBQ sauce.

... And of course a Dr. Pepper.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 4 points 11 months ago

Hello fellow Kansas Citian!

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 12 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It's a Chicago dog and a can of Old Style, and it's not close.

Boiled crawfish and a cold beer. Or maybe turtle soup au sherry and a sazerac. Depends on the season.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

I'm a little to the right of you on the Gulf. Can I come over for some of that?

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Probably a Cuban sandwich and Cafe con leche.

(ETA if it has to be things that grow here, probably fried alligator bites and orange juice)

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (7 children)

It's gonna be poutine isn't it? Or maybe ketchup chips. Anything but the fucking Caesar (why clamato????)

[–] StickyDango@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Or Nanaimo Bars! But I live in Australia now, so I guess it's snags and Vegemite toasties.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

I do love me a Nanaimo bar, though I dislike when they're too sweet. Honestly dark chocolate works best for those. Also love tiger paw ice cream

Philly: A cheesesteak, hoagie, or Italian roast pork (with broccoli rabe, roasted hot peppers, and sharp provolone cheese) sandwich, and a citywide special (traditionally a 12oz PBR and a shot of Jim Beam for $5)

Yuengs & Wings (which rhymes) would be another solid choice

For the kids, maybe a birch beer and a soft pretzel

Roast dinner and cider I think, idk if there's a more fitting combo for the British countryside

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 8 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I literally live where the "Pluot," a combination of a plum and apricot, was first bred. So it has to be that.

Personally, I don't like them that much. I'd prefer to have my plums and apricots separated, Tuvix style.

Pork BBQ and Collards. Finish it down with some Cheerwine.

Obviously pierogi and vodka

[–] Cracks_InTheWalls@sh.itjust.works 8 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (5 children)

Shawarma and a Vodkow martini.

This is how we explain storm watches v. storm warnings, for reference:

Edit: Second choice would be a Killaloe Sunrise and an Old Style Pilsner. Both are ok, on the simpler side, and people often loudly argue that the fancier alternatives with more toppings and complexity are better.

Probably barbecue ribs or pulled pork and cheerwine though I don’t like any of those.

Chicken and waffles though go hard. Add a cookout shake and I’m happy.

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 months ago

Cheese and beer. No contest. Everyone would.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

What I'd vote for: fish and chips What people actually want: McDonalds Because people are dumb

[–] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 months ago

Rollkuchen and a Pine needle Gin.

[–] inlandempire@jlai.lu 6 points 11 months ago

Dried plums and beetroots are a staple of the agricultural region I live in ; red wine comes next

[–] JoeTheSane@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Cheesesteaks and yeungling

[–] janus2@lemmy.zip 4 points 11 months ago
[–] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 11 months ago

Lake Huron Whitefish, asparagus, morels (dried from May) and strawberries all local today!

A craft lager and a local dry white wine.

[–] snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago
[–] tipicaldik@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Shrimp & Grits

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

French fries and meth.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 5 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Pickled herring, new potatos, sour cream and chive, oh and strawberries.

At least during midsummer.

But on christmas we have pickled herring, potatos, sour cream, chive and cold smoked rain deer meat.

Dinnede (a type of flatbread/pizza thing), and white wine.

[–] Justdaveisfine@midwest.social 3 points 11 months ago

Dinnede looks very delicious.

[–] vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago

Theres no drink option other than overly hoppy IPA (gross, I know, but it is the pnw) and likely salmon on some mixed greens.

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 11 months ago

Fried gator tail and a Malibu driver

[–] theywilleatthestars@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Chicago hot dog, surely. The deep dish pizza thing is exaggerated, but Chicago style hot dog is plentiful. Chicago style hot dog loves you. If you ask for ketchup you will have packets thrown at you disdainfully.

[–] Baguette@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Chicken teriyaki and coffee

My home state would probably be tacos and milk tea

Weißwurst / white sausage.

Not absolutely unique, but very well-known and therefore pretty identifying for the state of Bavaria.

[–] Default_Defect@midwest.social 4 points 11 months ago

A giant tasteless breaded pork tenderloin sandwich (a flattened pork chop, breaded, deep fried, and placed on a way too small bun) and a Busch light.

Note that this isn't an endorsement, but its the bullshit my area is known for and it fits.

[–] myrmidex@belgae.social 4 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Beer, fries or chocolate, hmmm. I should first taste them all again, just to be sure.

Käsespätzle and Spezi (das Original von Riegele)

[–] nsrxn@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

milk, and grilled stickies

[–] Justdaveisfine@midwest.social 3 points 11 months ago

I've never heard of grilled stickies before but they look delicious.

[–] felixwhynot@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

San Diego… I’m saying a burrito and a Modelo

[–] SnokenKeekaGuard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

Biryani and rao (sugarcane juice)

Although biryani is mostly a special occasional thing. The daily driver would be lentils.

Similarly the more common drink would be coca cola/ pepsi.

[–] i_am_not_a_robot@feddit.uk 3 points 11 months ago

The Bedfordshire Clanger!

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

If we aren't going based on what is naturally available which would be a variety of different berries but no fruit plus some trout and venison then it would probably be something simple like hamburgers and a screamer(a slushy with soft serve ice cream at the top and bottom mixed in like a swirl

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Beef pot roast and plain white bread rolls (ohio). Dont think there is a distinct drink for Ohio.
