Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Vance also said he was “outraged at Trump’s rhetoric, and I worry most of all about how welcome Muslim citizens feel in their own country. And there have always been demagogues willing to exploit the people who believe crazy shit. What seems different to me is that the Republican party offers nothing that’s as attractive as the demagogue.”

Exploit the people who believe crazy shit. Exactly what Vance is doing now that he’s sided with the demagogue.

Vance is even worse than a narcissist. He knows better and chooses to be evil for his own self-interest. I get why Trump likes him. He understands a life being driven by self-interest. And he knows Vance will burn everything down to advance he and Trump’s interests.

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 45 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

These people are the worst indeed. They know it's wrong, they know it's evil but they're still doing it and doubling down whenever they can, just to get some power.

Fucking sociopaths.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Vance was the liberal heartthrob until he went full MAGA so that he could become a senator.

[–] Crowfiend@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago

As a self-associated 'liberal,' I'd never once even heard of the guy before Trump picked him. That said, I'm not from his state, and it seems like literally everyone there hates him, so maybe the two are related.

Either way, calling him a "heartthrob" might be embellishment.

[–] CameronDev@programming.dev 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If we are lucky he is a trojan horse. Doubt it, but we could dream

Oh, he is 100% a Trojan horse, but the people he's a Trojan horse for are just as bad. Basically every shitty money-man in Silicon Valley that imagined himself a Randian Superman.

[–] 242@lemmy.cafe 71 points 2 years ago (7 children)

JD Vance claimed he we was "just kidding" after texts saying he hated the police resurfaced after it was revealed he was arrested for breaking into an IKEA and abusing two dozen couches in one night.

Trump doesn't want a VP, he wants a doormat that will never pose a challenge to his power.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 19 points 2 years ago

Good news. JD Vance is 100% that guy.

[–] pulaskiwasright@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 years ago

And the elite that picked Vance want to use Trump’s VP slot as a back door into getting someone as awful as Vance as president without having to go through voters. He’s somehow even worse than Trump. Trump is vain conman. Vance is the real deal.

[–] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 43 points 2 years ago

I love all this shit talking of Vance’s the press keeps digging up. And there seems to be so much of it! I’d love to see a steady drop of this all the way to Election Day, just to dig at Trump.

[–] JimSamtanko@lemm.ee 36 points 2 years ago

This is how Trump flexes his power. He owns those who once stood against him. To the weak minded- that’s all it takes.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 34 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Seems like Republicans need some work on their vetting process.

[–] MediaSensationalism@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

They had hoped it would demonstrate that fence-riding hardliners could be swayed to Trump's side. All it did was show that one was willing to sell out and fake it for a chance at the high chair.

With all the donor money passing hands to make Trump's campaign happen, the VP choice might have been over his head. Vance seems more like a pick the Heritage Foundation (Project 2025) would've made imo.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 years ago

Trump promised “heavy vetting” in his last campaign!

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

That tiny part of me that loves stupid conspiracies keeps saying they picked him because his name sounds like Pence and either Donnie liked a name he sort of recognized, or if he says "Pence" by accident they can play it off.

Weird man who ejaculates into inanimate couches calls running mate and fellow sexual deviant Trump, ‘morally reprehensible’

[–] magic_smoke@links.hackliberty.org 22 points 2 years ago (2 children)

If your biggest issue with the guy is fucking inanimate objects then you're not looking hard enough.

[–] TacticsConsort@yiffit.net 18 points 2 years ago

That may not be the biggest issue, but it's definitely the easiest to mock him over, and when you're a politician who needs your own voter base to take you seriously... Mockery is perhaps deadlier than getting called out for being a stain on humanity.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

he also fucks dolphins.

Or so I'm told. so those are animate objects.

[–] I_Miss_Daniel@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The ones that swim? Or the ones that take a 6V lantern battery?

[–] magic_smoke@links.hackliberty.org 15 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

No, he's sexually attracted to software that emulates Power PC based Nintendo consoles.

[–] JASN_DE@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Weird man who ejaculates into inanimate couches

Which part of that is "morally reprehensible"?

[–] bingbong@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] Trabic@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

Neither can socks.

I don't think this guy understands morals - I think he was parroting that opinion. He seems to lack any genuine empathy.

[–] IamSparticles@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

To a certain subset of the population, morals have nothing to do with understanding or caring about the people around you. To them, morals are just a set of rules handed down from someone in perceived authority, and those rules must be followed without question and without room for nuance.

Couch fucker isn't wrong. Dementia Don the racist rapist with 34 felonies that can't complete a coherent sentence is very much morally reprehensible.

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Wait which version of him?

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Sounds like America needs another pair of flip flops.

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Haha, right?!?!!

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 years ago

while he isn't wrong, couchfuckers should also speak for themselves...

[–] LostWanderer@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 2 years ago

ROFL what an amateur; one the one hand it is sad that this slimy alt-right Silicon Valley can't even do the bare minimum to deflect negative attention from former president Trump. On the otherhand, I'm ready for all the tea that will be spilt throughout this campaign! As this will hurt Trump in a big way and I truly want to see Kamala Harris win! Trump, that demagogue is deeply undeserving of holding a political office; his presidency, criminal acts, and his speech that incited the failed Jan 6 Insurrection are proof enough that felon needs to be put in a padded cell.

Oh, this is a useful bot. Nice call, whoever added it

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 9 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Eh not really. MBFC is a website ran by some random man from North Carolina. It’s his opinions on what’s biased and what isn’t.

For example he will rate you lower if you’re critical of Israel. Meanwhile you can be a literal propaganda channel, RFA, and he will rate you highly as unbiased.

[–] JetpackJackson@feddit.org 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Did we lose the summary bot to get this one instead?
