I feel bad for this lady. She was calm and talking in public with two other people and she gets meme'd like she was being unreasonable. She wasn't, but even if she was she wouldn't deserve it.

She was just mentioning US statistics of women victims of rape, like you said she wasn't doing anything to deserve ridicule and yet became the face of it
What was the context? This is the first time I've ever seen this person.
Here it is: https://youtu.be/byOlBCpNKeM
Rewatching it, I used the word "calm" and I still think that but she was "yelling" but not due to the subject matter. It was more due to the number of people outside and the ambient sound.
Like, she's just on the side and talking to the guy to me. Not unreasonably.
Pretty disturbing the number of lemmies who show up in that second panel, too.
If the hat fits...
I mean, if it was before the Democratic Primaries to force an open primary, sure. Its one person getting sick vs the entire country, its a great sacrifice.
But Now? I don't care either way. Like, I don't feel pleasure in people getting sick or dying. Its just a trolley problem to me.
I actually had a look in on /r/conservative today expecting glee but honestly it was full of good words (at least the most upvoted comments).
So only approved redditors can post or comment in r/conservative, but anyone with a reddit account can upvote. The upvote count and ratio has nothing to do with its approved posters view most of the time. The sub is mostly bots anyway.
How do we put an end to this ridiculous "unalive" trend? It's oppressive and childish.
Stop YouTube demonitizing content creators for using anything but euphemisms for death, even outside the context of actually telling people to kill others or themselves. It literally started because of YT policies.
Kinda already doing it by being on the fediverse since this trend is a direct result of corporate induced censorship aimed at keeping platforms “advertiser friendly”.
I believe it’s mostly to bypass mainstream social media filters. Words like ”killing” tend to be blocked.
While we’re speaking of putting an end to things, it would be nice to put an end of this meme image. She made a slightly funny face for one frame in a video, and now that’s her legacy.
Meme police showing up in force ITT
They've got a point, if you've not seen the full in-context video then you should absolutely watch it. She's 100000% right to make the face at the shitheel
The meme police, they live inside of your head
Just say kill instead of this dystopian Tik Tok bullshit. I refuse to use any service that won't let me talk about the real world without using insane workarounds. It serves nobody's best interests and is only an arms race of fear because people think McDonald's would prefer to sell hamburgers next to the word unalive rather than dead or kill.
I refuse to use newspeak
I had this feeling as well but then I saw that one etymology guy on a podcast. He said using "unalive" has helped a lot of young people be able talk about suicide and death more openly and easily. I'm not going to grammar police then if it leads to growth and open discussion. Even if it sounds silly to me.
8646: 😴 8647: 😡
Huh, the guy crying about 8647 posted 8646 s few years ago so zero self-reflection.
MAGA and...certain... .ml users apparently
You think ml users dislike 8647?
Sorry shoulda been more clear, I mean the right side. One of em even posted the initial news article to !upliftingnews@lemmy.world
Edit, forgot I grabbed a screenshot:
