My ex-wife used tarot cards to justify cheating on me, and then leaving me.

I didn't even know she had tarot cards.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It is amazing what excuses cheaters will use to justify their behavior.

In my case, my ex did the nature documentary argument way before the manosphere became a thing. I dunno why that is a pattern with that sort of man. They like to think of themselves as superior intellectuals until it comes to sex, then they will make graphs and studies and be pseudo David Attenboroughs to justify that their caveman urges are too strong for them to overcome.

I guess the female version of that is tarot cards, coffee grounds and zodiacs? I hope you found a better lady later, because that one surely wasn't worth keeping in your life!

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well, it's probably true. Their urges are too strong for them to overcome. But that's what an adult should be able to do, overcome the fucking urges

Exactly. But cheaters love pretending their urges are mystical forces, not a failure to act like grown-ups. Funny how that "strength" vanishes when accountability's involved.

This is about as psychotic as governments using AI to predict crimes.

It seems that the woman has a penchant for believing mystical guidance. "A few years ago, she visited an astrologer and it took a whole year for her to accept that none of it was real," the husband said.

That should've been the first clue. I can date someone who engages in fantasy for a bit, but if they never come back to reality then just put the relationship down humanely.

Sure, it can't count how many Rs are in strawberry, but it definitely for sure can predict future affairs in bean stew ingredients. /s

can predict future affairs in bean stew ingredients.

Ain't nothing more refreshing than adding some coffee grounds to your bean stew

Absolutely, either this story is made up, or that woman is insane.

Bad for the kids...

"I laughed it off as nonsense," he said. "But she didn't. She told me to leave, informed our kids about the divorce, and the next thing I knew, I was getting a call from her lawyer."

[–] Stamau123@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Seems like an easy custody battle but hey you never know

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Easy for a man to get custody of the kids? What world do you live in?

My friend’s ex repeatedly crashed her car while drunk with their daughter in the car and he had to fight a pretty much non-stop court battle for over a decade to maintain his 50%.

[–] Stamau123@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

that why I said you never know

basically the same for me and my sisters with our parents. Dad in the army and mom is robbing walmarts to pay for crack. Hmm, mom gets summer custody it is!

[–] SunshineJogger@feddit.org 102 points 5 days ago (1 children)

In that case I predict the man doged a bullet here of a lifetime with a moron.

[–] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 25 points 4 days ago

Theyre not in the clear yet. This type of crazy doesn't exit your life just the once.

Heck, you're lucky if you catch them entering back in before they've made another exit.

AI tasseography – a form of divination that interprets shapes left by tea leaves (or sometimes coffee grounds or wine sediment) after a cup is drunk.

So. Instead of just, idk, feeding ChatGPT all known details of the SO and maybe a dump of their messages or whatever and actually have a chance of it giving you a proper answer...they... just gave it a pic of a drunk coffee cup‽ Wtf is wrong with people

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 32 points 5 days ago

Even then ChatGPT would just give you an answer based on the wording of how you asked the question to try and agree with you.
