Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The wife of a wrongly deported Salvadoran father living in Maryland was moved to a safe house after Donald Trump’s administration posted a court document that included her address on social media.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s wife Jennifer Vasquez Sura said she began fearing for her safety and the safety of her three children after the Department of Homeland Security shared a protective order from 2021 that prominently featured her address to the department’s 2.4 million followers on X.

“I don’t feel safe when the government posts my address, the house where my family lives, for everyone to see, especially when this case has gone viral and people have all sorts of opinions,” she told The Washington Post. “So, this is definitely a bit terrifying. I’m scared for my kids.”

DT is literally a sick and broken man who has hired self serving sycophants to make him feel powerful. Just like every cult leader who came before him.

Steven Miller is part of this too. He’s a fucking hateful racist and most likely responsible for much of this.

But really it’s the whole Republican administration and congress who are responsible. Don’t let them forget.

Took me a few seconds to realize you meant donald trump, and not Domestic Terrorism

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago

Coupled with other recent actions by the White House and DHS I'd say it's very reasonable to file this under stochastic terrorism. They know the likely violent outcome, they are hoping for that outcome, but they're doing it under a guise of "just sharing information" with "a concerned public" whom are "under attack".

What do you expect from the 4chan government?

[–] WhatYouNeed@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Was there any major revelations from the hacked 4chan data?

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 101 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Would be a shame if every DHS employee got doxxed, tho, wouldn't it?

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Imagine what the dems would do.... Nothing.

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 1 year ago

Finally we can weaponize their laziness!

[–] 18107@aussie.zone 82 points 1 year ago (5 children)

The only reason I'm not attributing this to malice is because incompetence is certain.

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 126 points 1 year ago (2 children)

No this is certainly malice. She's being punished for fighting back against the obviously illegal shit the government is doing. They're trying to make an example out of the family.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 39 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Why not not all of them: terrorism, malice and incompetence.

[–] Atherel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 year ago

Fascism, the word you're looking for is fascism

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

prolly all of them, you're right.

[–] ovalofsand@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

It's likely malice. But the truth is it doesn't matter. Because it happened. There are a lot of people who are very close to not being able to get off the MAGA wagon anymore before shit really hits the fan.

Trump destroys everything he touches. This is going to go very badly for a lot of people

Who cares at this point, they're doing evil, treat it as such

Fred Clark’s Law

[–] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 76 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Ever day it gets fucking worse. I'm so sick of this world. Here in Canada we have the conservatives trying to push a similar agenda and similar laws and its unfathomable that, after what we're seeing in the States, that people still want to vote for that.

I don't think I want to go on in such a world. Unless people start getting violent against these intolerant psychopaths, I don't think there's any hope of them ever backing down. Our freedom is at stake here. We can't let them go on like this.

[–] KaRunChiy@fedia.io 25 points 1 year ago

I think we underestimated how many people live to see others suffer

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 72 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I hope she can sue them, and maybe get a new house out of it. Fucking barbarians.

[–] refurbishedrefurbisher@lemmy.sdf.org 41 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sure, but who's going to enforce the ruling?

[–] Hikuro93@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Best hope is for her to survive until this regime is toppled, how long that takes, and then seek compensation. Same for Mr. Garcia and any other wrongfully affected person.

Sadly the key here is really holding on and surviving these savages and their cult, but even in other countries, while 'safer' it's still not a complete guarantee. Hopefully they do evade the fascism and find some good samaritans along the way. 🤞

Current US administration consists entirely of absolute clowns who can't stop leaking sensitive information.

[–] Rogue@feddit.uk 20 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's absolutely intentional. They've chosen to publicly terrorise this one person so that all minorities fear the government.

They're also sending out letters to any minority they can basically saying "leave now or you're next". It's a vile tactic but the right wing base are absolutely loving the cruelty.

[–] albert180@piefed.social 12 points 1 year ago

As if this wasn't on purpose

[–] pomfegranate@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I'm sorry what was DHS and acronym for?

[–] Prandom_returns@lemm.ee 25 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Department of Homeland Security? Probably. I really thought it's the parcel service.

[–] Wildfire0Straggler3@lemm.ee 21 points 1 year ago (2 children)
[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

Department of Hey we Lost your package

[–] Prandom_returns@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Fair observation lol

[–] pomfegranate@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 year ago

They making home pretty insecure by doxxing a citizen...

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 year ago

DHS is the Department of Homeland Security, formed after 9/11 to ostensibly prevent terrorism as the glue between the FBI and CIA who kinda competed (and as a result, dropped the ball with 9/11), now apparently being used to target political opponents.

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

It's some kind of fascist doublespeak that only a fool would take seriously.

[–] IamSparticles@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 year ago

JFC - even his wife is saying that the protection order was due to an isolated incident and that it isn't justification to deport him. Which it isn't, because it's not a conviction. It's just a court order. They still have ZERO evidence that he was involved in a gang. They're just poisoning the well.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 12 points 1 year ago

Sounds like something a pathetic MAGAt would do to a vulnerable person.

if people were serious about stopping this dystopia they would be armed and calling all others to do the same.
