Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

People won't forgive the damage he's done to the country that welcomed him.
People won't forget the Nazi salutes.

That's what he's bringing back to Tesla. Unless Tesla severs all ties with this toxic liability, they're doomed.

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 62 points 10 months ago (4 children)

I love the assumption that somehow the problem was that he wasn't spending enough time at Tesla, as if the Cybertruck wasn't 100% his baby through and through. Clearly, with more genius ideas like that the company would be doing so much better.

Full self driving in the next 5 years! [Elon Musk, 2016 and every year since]

[–] mesamunefire@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

I believe he only owns 10%ish of the company now. And most of his investments are in spacex. So I'm honestly not sure what hes going to do.

Does he not realise that it's his association with tesla that's fucked it?

Returing will resolve nothing. Except his poor bwuised ego someone bring the poor dear his ~~handlers~~ sycophants

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 14 points 10 months ago (2 children)

They phrase it like he's going back to his desk and crunch some numbers and work really hard to get tesla out of this predicament.

[–] uienia@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

He will go back to his desk and keep on spending all of his time shitposting on his own shitty social media platform.

[–] jlh@lemmy.jlh.name 2 points 9 months ago

Don't forget the 80 hours a week of PoE2 grinding!

[–] RedPostItNote@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Everything he touches will turn to Nazi shit after what he’s done.

Tesla as a company is in a damned if they do, damned if they don't.

When you look at the business fundamentals versus the stock valuation, it's clear something doesn't add up, and at least formerly elons image was a big part of it.

Then he went full mask off and tanked his image.

So without the musk cult, is there enough to support their over inflated valuation? What does a post cult Tesla look like, when other companies have proven they can catch up or pass Tesla on various fronts people thought Tesla might be unassailably ahead. The various potential horizontal growth opportunities like solar and home batteries have fallen flat, their robot demonstration was significantly faked, and they are late to the self driving cab game, at best. A solid company, but not worth more than all their competition combined as their current valuation suggests.

So I think the hope is that he gets preoccupied with "making Tesla great again" and away from screwing with government. Then hope that people kind of forget about his political machinations and things sort of go back to the way they were for the hopefully forgetful public.

It's not just Twitter and Tesla anymore. Anything he touches will make most people revolt and move away Although some people can't be saved and will follow him. But basically I think he's done.

[–] mutual_ayed@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 months ago

There was inverse Cramer, now it's inverse Musk.

He was always a net negative to operations, but he's substantially declined in his drug abuse and mental health since his foray into politics. He's going to wreck anything he touches with his hubris.

Of course it could take a long time for his faithful to come to terms with that.

The best thing he could do for Tesla would be resign from Tesla

I will never buy a tesler. there are way better EVs on the market already.

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 10 months ago (2 children)

plenty of EVs that have a good steering wheel that doesn’t fly off your hand while you’re driving.

Lol what's he going to do at Tesla? More false promises of self-driving by the end of the year? Robot butlers that are totally not just being controlled remotely by some guy in a VR suit?

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago

He has been DOGED.

[–] LarryLurkman@lemm.ee 15 points 10 months ago

I'm sick of Elon Musk's fucking face.

Reverse the damage with a nazi in charge?

[–] Trihilis@ani.social 4 points 9 months ago

Seeing how things went the past 10 years i think people will have forgotten about musk by August and then the tesla shares and sale will rise to unforseen heights.

I hope I'm wrong but I seriously doubt it.

[–] boolean_sledgehammer@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Even if the boarding directors fired Musk and did everything they could to disentangle his diseased legacy from the company, Teslas would still be overpriced shitboxes with serious quality control issues.

it was doomed the moment he bought twitter and immediately started working with putin against ukraine by turning of the satellite coverage in the area.

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Didn't the US subsidize starlink for supporting the DoDs endeavors like Ukraine. Elon should not be allowed near the shutoff switch if he takes government handouts

Tesla's finished. There is no coming back from this. The damage he's done to their brand image with his self-indulgent ego bender is irreparable.

The media used to be willing to overlook all the recalls, crappy build quality, sketchy software, fraudulent sales practices, etc., but no more. Most media stories for the foreseeable future will focus on the negative, and with mounting quality control problems, and increading lawsuits from every direction, they'll have lots of fodder.

Tesla will be bankrupt in 2 years.

Ah yes, the mastermind behind the cybertruck is what the company needs more of. Elon "Funding Secured" Musk is good at milking the government teat and pulling tricks (some of which are outright illegal) to boost the stock price. That's great for bringing money into Tesla, but what is Tesla doing with that money? With Musk's direction, that money is being flushed down the toilet. They actually lost money last quarter, but thanks to carbon credits (government teat coming to the rescue yet again), they managed to turn a profit. Eventually the runway runs out.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 4 points 9 months ago

Yes. It is too late. If Elon was a serious guy he'd know that and step down.
