Not sure how relevant this is to buy European.

But with that said, every gov't should. 3% is not going to deter tourism, and gov't need that money for public service like law enforcement.

It's not all all relevant. But people see the name and post anyways. ๐Ÿคท

The relevance is, when you visit Norway now, you'll have to buy their tourism through the tax, so there won't be any point in buying imported tourism from another country as you'll already have more than enough. Pretty clever really.

Anyway imported tourism is never quite the same as getting it locally. ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

The tax would be used to fund maintenance and repair related to tourism use such as trails, public attractions, etc...

Furthermore its an optional tax for cities with high tourism to decide to implement. The tax yield wouldn't leave the local community.

There's not a single mention of law enforcement.

Also it's only a tax on overnight stays. Which some small towns and rural counties overwhelmed by day-travelers are not happy about.

Portugal should implement a 200% country-wide tourism tax. Its impossible to live anywhere without being bombarded by tourists year-round.

Original article

It's a mix of bokmรฅl and nynorsk so autotranslators may have a little trouble.
