Denazification is the process which comes to mind as the closest analog. That process took years, and arguably was not necessarily effective.

But the name of the game is deradicalization. It isn't enough to try and teach these people e.g. critical thinking skills -- they have been radicalized by years of propaganda exposure. Many of them no longer understand the difference between facts and opinions -- there is no basis for instruction.

And deniazification was only possible after a world war that ended with unconditional surrender by the nazis. Trying to educate fascists who are currently entrenched in the belief that they are "winning" is never going to be a viable strategy.

I live in Missouri. These people consistently vote on ballots measures that help them, then vote in people who will overturn the ballot measures "Because people didn't know what they were voting for."

What pattern does the people getting voted in have? The (R) next to their name.

Seen it in the past decade I've lived here. People won't learn.

And similarly, Democrats have been so demonized that it does not matter how much they agree with the person, there are tens of millions of Americans who will never EVER vote for someone with a "D" next to their name.

I am from southwest Missouri, the hills of the Ozarks. I returned there with my brown (Hispanic) partner, had two kids from my hometown in baseball uniforms yelling monkey at him. I miss my common sense country people, I miss my giant pile of puppies dude friends, always wrestling and blowing the occasional bottle up with a firecracker. But they won't even stand up to a widely acknowledged rapist. How am I supposed to be friends with them being ok with that? I miss my friends, the older men who have such fun stories, and the older women who should not have blamed the victims but they will never stand up to the men that are the abusers. They'll always find ways to excuse or ignore it. Deuteronomy 22: 25-27 not even Christian, it's just easier to quote scripture at em

Just a quick FYI, you know nit-picking a small grammar error in the title, hardly noticable.

The "Re-" prefix generally implies that the thing had previously existed.

You had ability, now you are re having ability.

One could argue they are educated, just badly and with wrong stuff. So now its time to reeducate.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

How about "de-indoctrination"?

Meh. We didn't eliminate the Nazis the first time via education; we beat them at their own game of bombs and bullets.

Why would the neonazis be any different?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

You and Russia hired them. A lot of them became politicians in West Germany. There was no de-nazification after the war and it shows.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

Lesson learned then: beat them in war first, then finish off the stragglers. Don't leave any leftovers to grow into another problem.

So Europe should be bombing our major cities?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

Not yet. And not major cities, but actual tactical targets. If you've ever questioned what the average German citizen should have been doing in the 1920s to prevent the incoming shitshow, that's what US citizens need to be doing right now.

We're already laying the groundwork for invasions of Greenland, Canada, and Panama; once we cross that line, the rest of the globe should 100% bomb some sense back into us.

For now the ball is still in our court, but that phase is wrapping up and so far it's been a long, drawn out fumble.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago

Re-education implies there was education in the first place. I'm not so sure about that.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago

It's not because they're pro-Republican, the media has made them anti-Democrat

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

I mean I think calling it reeducation is just a way meant to make it sound scary. What it really needs to be branded as is educating people who didn't receive a proper education growing up as their school wasn't funded well enough or they lived in a red state where funding was a problem on top of bad curriculums. I think that issue is primarily what's led to our current state of affairs, underfunding of education and the limiting of higher education behind paying for college have led to a less educated America that falls for people like Trump.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

the problem with re-education, is that they literally want it, because then they have an ACTUAL excuse to start doing insane shit.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 days ago

Can’t fix stupid.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

After identifying as Rs since they were born, they will never not vote R. The platform doesn’t matter, they will parrot off any fake Fox Newz talking points without caring or understanding what they mean. Without hesitation they’ll vote a goat over Trump if the goat has the R next to its name.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Exactly this. Conservatives love to whine about Democrats and "identity politics," but like everything else... projection.

The R is part of their identity.

It's culture. Quit being obtuse. It has nothing to do with education or intelligence. It is all culture. Its why they want trucks and attack trans and other LGQTB. They have an extremely rigid world view. They use their power and influence to maintain status quo.

If you want to change them you need the numbers to affect the culture to usurp it from them. You don't need to reeducate them. I almost believe they are more intelligent than many on the left. Their education is fine. You need to sweep the culture beliefs and ideology from them because that is what they can't stop. That is what they hold on to the most.

They win because they're not out to educate you on the left. They affect culture. They impact the status quo. They boost that tiktok account and others to share signals that affect culture, not education. No one cares if you can point to a line in a book and say well akwasually this is why what you're doing is wrong you fascist. Also if anyone hasn't noticed. Pretty quiet on a lot of spaces isn't it? There's breathing room. But when midterms come up, they're coming. You ready or just waiting to react? Cause right now the have a room filled with Phd marketing teams planning where to apply pressure and what content to create.

If you want to win, culture jam the fuck out of their way of life. Make Trucks a status symbol of the LGQTB. Make gun ownership a liberal thing and then bring about laws from within. Don't just call them fascists and log off. Make a decent effort to generate content that can be shared to my grandmother that points out why they're fascists. Also what fascists is and why anyone should care.

There's so many ways to win. The left just isn't doing any of it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Not double-stuffed though, being the last in line.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

I’m not even in the line. I just want some head from a guy at the end of a row of guys getting fucked.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I still think the problem is a lot of people value in-group membership too much. Like, we all want to fit in with our friends and loved ones. But some people really will jump off a bridge and die because their friends are doing. It's like, I don't know, a hit of cocaine every time they do their in-group rituals or go to a rally or whatever. I don't know how to fix that. It seems like it might be deeply baked into human brains.

But if we even wanted to start, we'd have to give these maga-hats a better group to belong to. If these people channeled their weird in-group masturbation energy into, like, cleaning up litter or knitting or whatever, we'd all be so much better off.

We probably need to get rid of a bunch of billionaires who are pumping out horrible content 24/7, too.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago

I've heard it described as the "super tribe" effect. We form surrogate tribes around ideas, rather than blood. It's the same thing that holds football fans together, or nationalism.

It's hard to overcome, since it's not a rational effect. The best bet is to subvert the entire group identity. Unfortunately, that's exactly what the billionaires have already done.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

If we don't embrace our fools, we'll be doomed to suffer them.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

Re-education suggests that these people were educated to begin with.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

I never understood leftist countries' apparent obsession with re-education camps... Until ~2016 or so.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

You cant re-educate Nazis. You can only compost them for fertilizer

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

Only if the re-education involves throwing them into a volcano.
