This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

I'm not sure if there's any soulslike other than Lies of P that has a companion in it that accompanies you throughout your journey through the game. And many people didn't enjoy Gemini because of his quippy nature and retelling of main plot points when they happen.

Are you among those people who did not like Gemini? If yes, why and how could Round 8 have made him more to your liking?

And would you be opposed to an NPC follower that is your constant companion? Think, Solaire went along with you the entire game and helped in battle. Would you enjoy that?

I didn't even mind that. Usually, I find that kind of dialogue to be very cringey, but maybe because I like(d) the game so much, I just embraced his silly monologues and saw it as a nod from the developers that they're in the know.

That would be perfect, actually. Hard agree.

Absolutely! And in a non-objectified way too, hopefully. Not like the female protagonist of a recent certain China-inspired soulslike that features certain... assets

Oh right! I keep forgetting that game exists :P

Also, for Gemini it was a ~small~ cringe, I actually kind of missed his commentary a bit in the DLC.
