How are these not already open to third parties?

Benefit of the doubt, maybe security thing. Fo you really want random apps to have access to that stuff? As long as they give a way to disable those permissions from any app, itโ€™s definitely time 3rd party apps have access to it, but donโ€™t think flipping the switch is the right approach. There needs to be security controls placed on the access and integration to the permissions framework, auditing etc. Thatโ€™s why Apple just completely removed some features in EU instead of making them available - itโ€™s a lot of work. Admittedly Apple has had a lot of time to work on this, and get it right, but itโ€™s never just as easy as it would seem.

If your threat model relies on your adversary not having an iPhone, that's a bad threat model.

Or maybe it's time to recognise that Apple's business model is neo-mercantilism and fundamentally incompatible with both a free and fair market, and kick them out of Europe.

Apple are one of the richest companies on the entire planet. They can afford to do some work to make things available.

These things are already available. I can Airplay to my Roku tv or Xbox. I can get notifications from any iOS or web app.
