Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I think what people don't get is they talk loudly. I have nothing against people doing a call in public, but when it's an appropriate volume. You don't need to yell. Don't put it on speaker phone.
I often see it on the bus, and it's infuriating. The worst part? You can make perfectly good phone calls at normal voice volume as demonstrated by my work colleague doing it
Oh and also... Please don't put tiktok or your music at full volume. Either put on earphones or wait till you're off the bus. Respect the others
Modern microphone technology including the algorithms picks up even quiet talking quite crispy and clear.
Noone needs to shout like it's a 1950 land line.
Of course I do! Iβm on speakerphone and holding the phone an arms length away from my face for some reason.
Exactly, or even worse: nobody needs to shout like they were using a megaphone
I get the irritation, too. But, to me, the fact that the comic's reaction to people talking loudly in public is to shoot them. It's like it was made by a 14 yo edgelord and the trenchcoat and hat is the cherry on top. I've just grown out of that phase, unfortunately. Good on OP for sharing their comic though. It takes guys to do that.
Also getting defensive about your flopped comic and calling people dumb isn't going to look good.
Personally I think it's fine? It's cartoonishly over the top and I've done stuff like that as well. And after a long day at work the last thing my autistic ass needs is getting overwhelmed by a yeller so I get the sentiment.
Although I can't and won't excuse the artist's responses. I know it can be sad to see your hard work not paid off, but that's not a reason to lash out. Just learn what sticks and what doesn't. ~~And continue making the same thing if you like seeing the world burn~~
I respect your opinion.
For me it's not outlandish enough, so it doesn't come off as a joke but as a whiny little bitch in a trench coat getting irrationally angry about some noise probably at a shitty coffee shop that's not even specifically for quiet time. Just drink at home if it bothers you so much wtf. OPs bullshit responses don't help either. At least the opinions seem nearly evenly split according to the vote count.
haha, you're so angry man π€ I'm glad I ruined your day π
You didn't ruin it at all. It's actually fun watching a loser make an idiot out of itself.
You didn't seem to have had fun at all, haha
Glad I ruined it π
I'm actually taking about your comments lol
The comic was just meh. But it's cool you're trying though.
ok, then, keep reading me so you can "have fun", haha.
PS: I'm still glad I ruined your day π
The artist non-kind responses are only for haters. And usually are much softer than the haters did from the very beginning.
Haha, my comic is overwhelming ^^ but I understand: you're just jealous
Finally somebody who understands!! It's pleasant to see that there's still people with a working brain like yourself :)
Eh... I've been here. A comic I spent hours on giggling to myself flops hard while lukewarm relatable humour gets boosted up... But meh. As long as I make one person smile, I consider my job done. My comics are shitposts, so I gotta expect that
But here I think it's actually fixable (as much as I hate this word in the context of art). If you make the text bigger and bolder, it'll convey better that the sound is loud.
Yep, but in this case it has to be with the non-stop talking, rather than people who speaks like they were using a megaphone. The inspiration came from a situation like this one in a coffee shop, when there was a guy speaking louder than he should, but not super loud. However, the most annoying part was that this individual never stopped his conversation, and he didn't stop even to take a breath-in. And when he finally hung up, then he decided to make another call, and start his never-ending speech again. That's why the text is not bigger, but instead is too extensive, not even fitting in the speech bubble. The idea behind it was to transmit a guy who never stops talking, annoying everybody in the room. But of course I respect your opinion, based on your answers, I can tell you're smart ^^
