Wealthy people always think they can buy immortality.
It's really not that bad of a disease. Still would be super interesting if playing with bullshit peptides made things like it more likely.
I had to go on a long-term medication recently and I agonized about it for a YEAR before deciding that pushing my biochemistry into an unusual state while I was still ticking over without severe acute problems was worth it. I'm always afraid of thinking I know better than evolution.
I don’t know about “knowing better”… I think I’d describe evolution as mindbogglingly stupid in ways we haven’t begin to understand yet, but quite often medical intervention does appear to be “how can I trick evolution into not killing me in some unpleasant way, without causing it to kill me in some other unpleasant way”.
His immune system is eating his stomach lining. He will need a special diet and in time this inflammation will cause cancer. But before that, he will need to be on immune suppression therapy meaning a viral infection could kill him.
This is why you use ~~your kids~~guinea pigs but apparently that's not disruptive enough.
