Field better candidate next time instead of a genocide accomplice.

[–] forkDestroyer@infosec.pub 5 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

"we can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way" type vibe.

[–] Jay101@lemmy.world 7 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

There was only one way and it was fronting good candidate like Bernie or AoC.

[–] alzjim@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

The DNC will do everything in its power to ensure change can never happen from the voters.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 0 points 17 hours ago (6 children)

vote in the primaries instead of complaining that the candidates suck.

you're only allowed to complain that they suck if you didn't vote for them in the primaries

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

The democrats havent held free or fair primaries since Obama won them.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

not talking presidential, in talking all primaries, from local levels, participate now or don't complain afterwards

[–] Wakmrow@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Lol. Local progressives won two seats on city council. Instead of working with them (very blue city), the city council stonewalled them.

Then dumped millions of dollars into city council races. Didn't matter how many doors they knocked after that.

it's working then, keep doing it. purge all those cunts out. until soon, it'll be the progressives stonewalling corporate bought goons.

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Do the Democrats not control the rest of Democratic primaries too?

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

not sure if they will still pull their superdelegate bullshit on the presidential ballot, but for all other position? they do run them.

And even small positions are important, from local to federal level, no one who accepts AIPAC should be a candidate.

[–] Wakmrow@lemmy.world 1 points 47 minutes ago (1 children)

Did you miss the part where in the next election cycle they dumped millions into conservative dems and won the elections back

so?

those millions are useless if leftists vote in the primaries.

You mean, if they voted against them in the primaries?

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Ah yes. The democratic party enthusiastically supported the progressive candidate for mayor in New York.

Right?

Didn’t try to run an “independent” splitter candidate to torpedo their own candidate.

Right?

Didn’t run Andrew “Sex Crimes” Cuomo against the actual democratic nominee?

Right?

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world -1 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

you're not wrong, but you can't not participate and then complain about the candidates.

you hate AIPAC? your vote really matters in the primaries.

this is the only way we can get rid of AIPAC's influence

[–] nsrxn@mstdn.social 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

"you can’t not participate and then complain about the candidates."

I don't participate in republican primaries. I complain about their candidates. I bet only a handful of people participate in green primaries but I've seen plenty of complaints about their candidates.

I am just saying that this is a crucial moment, and registering and voting in primaries will have much more weight to it, than going on parades every 6 months chanting "No Kings".

I get how much the dems suck, they are soulless ghouls, and are as much at fault for the US becoming a fascist nightmare as the conservatives. but voting out AIPAC influence is probably the most consequential thing we can do right now. And if a tiny fraction of people concerned about this actually go and vote in primaries we can actually have an effect, as only a tiny minority votes in those.

Also, not sure if you can or it depends on the state, but if you can register and vote in other parties primaries, please do so, I'm 100% sure conservatives without AIPAC will be a much better opposition. they are still fascists cunts, but at least we wont have to worry about being on the beck and call of Netanyahu.

Also, given that Jill Stein was arrested for beating a cop in a Gaza protest (the news ignored it), I doubt they have an AIPAC problem.

[–] nsrxn@mstdn.social 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

but if i vote for someone who is bad, and they win, that's bad.

dr oz ran against dave mccormick for the primary, and dave lost. fetterman beat oz in the general. all three are in the federal government now. that's bad.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

don't vote for someone who's bad then.

[–] commie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

what i'm hearing is don't vote in republican primaries, or democrat primaries, or for them in the general.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

can't vouch for your location. but I'm me area, there are a few genuinely good progressives running, they refused AIPAC contributions (bare fucking minimum of a politician is to not accept bribes). I trust them. at least I trust them to be less shitty than generic Democrats.

also, I'm not sure if you are involved and you're talking from frustration at your primaries. all I'm saying is, that if you can. vote in the primaries, that vote will be much more influential than midterms or even general elections vote

[–] commie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 hour ago

vote in the primaries

literally, the worst thing that ever happens when i vote for someone is that they win. i fucking hate politicians.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Strawman. I vote in every election.

But I don't hold it against those who don't. They correctly see the two party system as completely uninterested in representing them and delivering any material benefit to voters.

It's up to Democrats to earn votes. They aren't owed votes. And if they keep fucking around in primaries (if they even have primaries — cf. Kamala), then they can expect third party candidates.

good. I'm not disagreeing with you. fuck the Dems, but pressuring them by favoring progressives in primaries (not only for presidential candidates) is the best change we got to get out of this mess.

and again, fuck them for being fascist lite,

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I mean he won the primary, was the democratic candidate and then won the election.

It's proof that the other comment or was exactly right, you need to go out and vote in the primaries for good candidates.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 26 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

That argument works for literally every other election except 2024 because Bidens pride got in the way and they shuffled the human equivalent of a spare tire forward.

[–] OccamsRazer@lemmy.world 16 points 16 hours ago

Yes, and literally nobody voted for kamala in the Primaries. And yet she was the candidate.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world -3 points 17 hours ago

You definitely got Genocide voting for Kamala. That's for sure.
