Unless this community has a rule about editorializing titles, you're not required to use the video title as the post title and can enter your own. You should also be able to add your own body text to the post separate from the automatically pulled video description.

Alternatively, you can always make your own comment on this post that summarizes away the clickbait.

It's kind of hilarious to me that for all the words in your comment, you still didn't mention what the actual topic of the video is.

Whatever this is, it doesn't work well without prior understanding of whatever this manga is and how that Sci-Fi gun works. Who's firing at who? What in the fuck is even going on? If Windows is veering off target then why are we seeing people blown up like it was successful?

I'm guessing that your joke is that all the Linux variants are some overcharged killshot, but Windows can't hit the target? But then some of the panels make no sense.

So is this is in essence "I drew myself as the chad and you as the sad soyjak, that means I win!"?

Where funny?

Comic is Oglaf. It's brilliant, but quite NSFW. That is one of the relatively few SFW strips.

There's even emails that are now public record due to a court case with the Department of Justice that confirm this!

Wonderful, but very long (and detailed) writeup here.

The term has been diluted I guess, or this is a strawman. I've never seen real life protests or action called "virtue signaling" before. That's absurd.

Back when I first started seeing the term used online, somewhere around 2009-2013, it was being used to describe the non-religious version of people making "hopes and prayers" comments online.

Like people using filters over their Facebook profile image to raise awareness of something and then patting themselves on the back for a job well done. That problem sure was solved!

You think something the Russian invasion of Ukraine is bad? And you feel that so strong you're going to make a post online about it? You sure showed Putin with that one!

At least taken in the most forgiving light, it was sneering at the type of people who were explicitly preformative with their sense of justice. The type of people to do the day of silence about LGBT bullying, who would then strut around afterwards as if to say "We did it gang! We solved LGBT hate!" Then continue to use LGBT terms in derogatory ways and bully LGBT people.

I always thought the phrase was pretty self explanatory. It's virtue signalling, not seeking, not spreading, not defending, not living, not actually embodying.

This wouldn't be the first time this comic creator made a strip against something that seems to be a ridiculous strawman to me though.

Just wash everything on cold, except if there's a specific stain to remove that needs hot water.

Junk too big, I'm too fat, and it's a douchy style when taken to the extreme of the photo. Wearing well fit clothes is good, but this is something else.

I regularly have trouble finding pants where the crotch doesn't crush things or make it look like I'm smuggling sausage, the waist is wide enough, and the legs don't look like they're parachutes. Usually settle for two of the three.

Not spinning this news hard enough.

"Trump has empowered states to take control of their own healthcare and disaster infrastructure by freeing them of the onerous red tape associated with this dirty CDC money. No longer will the federal government have yuge financial control over your states' medical industry! Now every state is free to tailor care and disaater response to the unique needs of their people! It's freedom folks, plain and simple."

Yuck. I think the vomit is starting to pour from my ears. I'm kind of worried that I was even able to type that dreck.

I'm fairly sure the update cadence is set by the game dev/publisher, not GoG.

This has nothing to do with Linux and everything to do with using unfamiliar equipment and/or software. I've gotten those comments on seprarate occasions from having command prompt up and from having an IDE up in dark mode. Also from using an external HDD, external sd card reader/writer, wired mouse, and wired keyboard back when external hdds were relatively niche. Too many wires I guess.

Hahahahaha. At least they had the balls to publish and host it themselves.

Love this inversion of the song trope of lamenting the loss of nature. It's a satirical lament of the loss of corporate development.

Lyrics:

Here we stand

Like an Adam and an Eve

Waterfalls

The Garden of Eden

Two fools in love

So beautiful and strong

The birds in the trees

Are smiling upon them

From the age of the dinosaurs

Cars have run on gasoline

Where, where have they gone?

Now, it's nothing but flowers

There was a factory

Now, there are mountains and rivers

You got it, you got it

We caught a rattlesnake

Now, we got something for dinner

We got it, we got it

There was a shopping mall

Now, it's all covered with flowers

You've got it, you've got it

If this is paradise

I wish I had a lawnmower

You've got it, you've got it

Years ago

I was an angry young man

I'd pretend

That I was a billboard

Standing tall

By the side of the road

I fell in love

With a beautiful highway

This used to be real estate

Now, it's only fields and trees

Where, where is the town?

Now, it's nothing but flowers

The highways and cars

Were sacrificed for agriculture

I thought that we'd start over

But I guess I was wrong, hey

Once there were parking lots

Now, it's a peaceful oasis

You got it, you got it

This was a Pizza Hut

Now, it's all covered with daisies

You got it, you got it

I miss the honky tonks

Dairy Queens and Seven-Elevens

You got it, you got it

And as things fell apart

Nobody paid much attention

You got it, you got it

I dream of cherry pies

Candy bars and chocolate chip cookies

You got it, you got it

We used to microwave

Now, we just eat nuts and berries

You got it, you got it

This was a discount store

Now, it's turned into a cornfield

You got it, you got it

Don't leave me stranded here

I can't get used to this lifestyle

US Congress proposed bill to allow AI to prescribe drugs and medical treatment

Original post from the Fuck AI community: https://lemmy.world/post/24681591

The fact that this has even been proposed is horrifying on so many fucking levels. Technically it has to be approved by the state invovled and the FDA, but opening this door even a crack is so absurdly out of touch with reality.

So I'm coming back to the game after a two year break. I didn't get too deep into the game before, mostly doing low level combat and trading.

I was wondering what resources people more familiar with the game would suggest I check out for getting into some of the other content like mining, exobiology, and exploration. I'd like to take a shot at the basics of the different gameplay loops/styles before I start trying to get into the deeper content like engineering.

Unfortunately a lot of guides I've found seem to focus on maximum optimization before you even try to get into the content. I don't want to do an engineering grind, or grind to get an FC, before I figure out if I even like the type of gameplay it's going to make easier.

We've heard the anguished screams of the Funhole community for an alternative to the Funhole Times. For a hard hitting publication unafraid to dig deep, unrestrained by concepts like "common sense", "integrity", "anti-treason laws", "libel lawsuits", and "basic measures of competence".

We're proud to bring you a snippet of the inaugural issue of the Funhole Gazette, and we hope some competition will drive us all to make even better content in the new year!

We also vigorously deny any allegations of sabotage of the Funhole Times facilities.

New Ed! Not much particularly new info, just a general lament and summary of the state of tech and how much has been pinned on magical thinking. Has some wonderfully quotable sections.

What if what we're seeing today isn't a glimpse of the future, but the new terms of the present? What if artificial intelligence isn't actually capable of doing much more than what we're seeing today, and what if there's no clear timeline when it'll be able to do more? What if this entire hype cycle has been built, goosed by a compliant media ready and willing to take career-embellishers at their word?

Please forgive my addition to the title, as it's meant to be a play on "Waiting for Godot", not a comment on the Godot game engine. Wanted to make that more clear than the title alone would.
