John Dies At The End. Weird, sci-fi horror comedy that nobody saw

Budget <$1 million, box office $141,951

The story was originally written as a serial and released on a web site for free before getting sold as a book, the movie cuts out big sections that makes some scenes meaningless or contradicting earlier scenes. I think it's pretty fun to watch and it has a low budget sci-fi charm, but I get why it didn't do well. Given another screenwriter/director I think it could be retried.

Imagine the lack of self-reflection to call someone a barbarian while committing genocide to steal more land from Palestine. I can't apprehend the confusion of thought necessary to think this way without starting with some blunt force trauma to the noggin.

If you want some good demonstrations on how to deal with interlocutors who are conversing in bad faith (unwilling or unable to listen generously and engage with empathy) check out deconstruction zone (Justin) or AllegedlyIan.

The censorship on the movie The Big Sleep, based on a book about a pornography ring run by organized crime, was released at a time when they censored everything to the point of making the movie into a kind of nonsense with Bogart talking fast and Bacall singing a song about DV.

Zombie Duncan played by Jason Momoa sounds fun

It already is as people become aware of its limitations, that's why they're so desperate to sell it to anyone now while there are still people out there in charge of funding shit that don't understand the boundaries/limitations of the current gen tech.

I think the more common problem for most of us is how would you protect yourself from a government than how would you protect yourself without a government, you don't need to replace a cancer with anything once it's cured.

You can still build organization and specialized jobs within anarchy and without a state government, political parties, etc. Look at anarcho-syndicalism, synthesis anarchism, federated associations, and platformism with principles in decentralization and free association without coercion.

The question was raised in a recent .world news article comment https://lemmy.world/post/25766196

Been listening to a few lately, a few John Carpenter's, Mayhem was pretty out there, looking for more that are interesting or wildly off topic or entertaining.
