Don't be afraid to list the address of your fellow congress members family member when asking for an impeachment

I didn't articulate a strategy lol. I haven't seen both siders in a while but they like world nice an simple and they want Dems the exact same as Republicans

[–] solidheron@sh.itjust.works -2 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

This is why I love defending Democrats because it pisses off both siders.

Tell them you got other people's kids to watch so they can go to work, someone has to be part of the village. If they press you on it then ask them for their availability because lots of families need free babysitter.

Hell might even make them hesitant to schedule outside of ability

Turns out my son is grieving the death of his best friend since deployment and had to dress up as a woman to their funeral

Kinda ran into this concept when discovering new concepts or sciences. Yeah the new stuff gonna be unintuitive and potentially hard to learn, but it both exists and functions

Ai voice: "here's why the government doesn't want you to have this technology"

We needed an article for this? I just thought about institution of slavery and how people that weren't slaves whipped the slaves into doing work

Problem with venn diagrams is that I'll never know what 1984 and hunger games combined to make without watching brave new world or Soylent Green

Also how much is animal farm like hunger games

I feel like I could argue with an anarchist about organizing

My issue is that there's not enough action from leftist. I can't criticize people's plans because it's hard to evaluate both the means and the goals as well as the effectiveness, but I will give advice on how I think it can be improved, how it went down for me when I attempted something similar, or potential flaws.

I could listen to other people's plan

backstory is that i try to fill up my tank more when gas prices are at a low and less as prices go up to make my long term average cost per gallon lower.

now given current events, and empirical reality, gas has only been going up and will continue to go up. we could assume different curves(only constraint being that price per gallon goes up as time goes forward), but if you buy your gas now you will spend less money then you have if you bought it tomorrow, day after, or week down the road. my estimate is that it will be month minimum before it gets cheaper.

now that I have put this out there into the world you should fill up asap, I already filled up before making this post and other people will come up with this idea independently of me.

The reason why I'm cross posting here is because my advice will trigger acceleration in increasing gas prices and I view that as a means to spite trump and put pressure on him by effectively by people not in politics. Lemmy users are getting mad at me for telling others to buy gas as soon and as much as possible to save money

Seems boring dystopia to me and I'm helping to remove the crust off a shit sandwich

Just really showing off the level of articulation from the comms on this lemmy community and maybe even their intelligence.

I made a post about experimenting with compressed air and showing that it results in a mist coming out which would be an experiment without a hypothesis and related to science.

The post would reasonably be able to stay up given then only rule is be kind, but there's now unsaid rules the mods will make up.

I'm not going to advocate for crypto, more out of ignorance, but maybe it's possible to make a coin that's worth 0 USD but can be exchanged like USD.

Everyone is talking about boycotting services that work with government agencies they don't like, such as cop city or ICE, but the ultimate control the government has is USD. The dollar has effectively "blended into the wallpaper of society" and people don't realize that they can cut it out of their lives, in a theoretical sense. It's hard to get a round the convenience of USD since so many markets that it gives you Access to and without USD you can't even buy coffee at gas station.

The reason to boycott USD is that it would decouple government control over your life. If government printed money and inflated the currency and you had none then you're immune from devaluing. If you didn't use USD for but something else (currency or other forms of battering) then it would make other people give up their USD. Also the government does use USD to empower corporations via loans, bailouts, and subsidized (whatever the federal reserve comes up with) to essentially give them a lot of buying power so they can suck up GPUs, ram, and land.

To wrap it up. Using USD gives legitimacy to the federal government and everything they do. Selling your labor for USD means that the government can buy your labor for USD

Fast forward to 2026: PayPal just fired its CEO, the stock is sitting at its lowest level since 2017 (sub-$44), and the company is trading at ~7.4x forward earnings.

A few years ago, the narrative was that PayPal was a long-term fintech winner with strong leadership and a durable moat. That did not age well.

Kinda a thought that pops into my head from time to time about if people that lived well before writing wanted to leave an eternal legacy and at best we see their remains dressed in ornaments.

It's interesting to think that someone that lived 50k years ago paved a path for me in the sense that they probably exploded lands weren't known to their tribe or human at the, found new edible plants, or maybe created a new tool.

Crazy to think that there's billions of humans that I contributed to the life I have know and their names have long since been lost to time and that what I do today can still affect someone well into the future

I realized I boxed myself into a corner and put myself in solitude. I bad at asking for help.

Really it started when I got pulled over by a cop on my bike for not having lights at night. The interaction did suck because I had to ID myself and turn back home, but that was nothing. Really the cop stopped me from doing a felony(I won't say exactly what it is but I have gotten support to do it. No i didn't intend to harm any innocent person) that I was stressing about doing and dragged myself into doing because I thought it was "public service". Like I thought I was well prepared but I failed so fast.

Everything ICE has done in the news has stressed me out to the point of not following the news. I did join a group of protesters, which was fun. I came up with a plan to deal with ice that's near impossible to detect with human senses and of course I won't articulate in this post. The idea of maming an ice agents weighs heavy on me, like I imagine myself being disabled. Also escalation in the conflict between ice and public. I spaced out writing that sentence. I hope that the peaceful resolution is that it simply gets too expensive for ice to operate and they simply reduce the scope of their operations.

All these emotions have made me mildly depressed and I feel like it's effecting my involvement with DSA, like im missing meeting I don't intend to and I'm not enthusiastic about the meetings, but I also wish my chapter did more in my area, I do feel like I'm waiting for them to announce something

I wish I could tag this as discussion.

I'm getting little annoyed at people only say "protest are useless" then proceed to suggest nothing and do nothing just to keep us in a state of complacency with the status quo.

Protest do have a function they do show those in power that people are opposed to policy or politician, but more importantly they show that other people the people that live in their city or local area are willing to show their political stance publicly. It can raise awareness and pull people in the margin to your side. from what I experience, it can show the right that they wont act on their violent words.

I get that the opposition to protest say that it never changed anything or trump continues to act crazy, and I'd say that we need to do more in addition to the protest not that we shouldn't do protest. I'll need someone that advocate not doing protest to speak in the comment.

I want to see protest "upgrade" from a gathering of people to meet-and-greets and concert. If you are at a protest you should actually enjoy it, show off your signs explain it to other protestors, and talk with other people on what to do locally. I would suggest promoting a business at a protest.

protest are good way to get around social media algorithms

Reminder of the details for those of you who have a hazy memory of the finale. ICE looked at Vic Mackey's resume including many charges, complaints and allegations of excessive force, and that he was a prime suspect in multiple murder investigations, and said "Yes please! Have full immunity!"

Good thing nothing like that would ever happen in real life.

So I made a script that post once every 8 hours or where I start the script. The script will post to random c/ that has subscribers but low activity from a corresponding subreddit in hopes of jump starting it.

I do like the features where the image/video is simply put the url into the URL of a lemmy post so Reddit host the file and lemmy instances simply have to send text.

So far it has been a success. While I was building the script and making it post to my very niche 1 sub community the post ended up getting a few comments and over a dozen up votes. Which is great because I got surprised and I got to engage with other users and learn about something new.

Really the challenge is to find existing communities that don't have a active counterpart, have subscribers, have little to no activity, and something I have knowledge over. It would be strange to have something posted randomly and know nothing about that community or post or I have to spend 10 minutes figuring out what got posted
