The repugnant blob of mens rights activists, MAGA influencers, manosphere podcasters, and fascists that get their micropayments from X’s dwindling Verified user ad revenue program are not just demonizing the women who have come out in support of Clancy — though, they are certainly doing that — but are also yanking any old video off TikTok they can find of women talking about postpartum depression or the pressures of motherhood and inciting an unimaginable amount of harassment against the original poster.

This entire paragraph, grammatically, refers to these individuals as a whole as "the repugnant blob"

Its the first 3 words.

You cant sidestep the fact this is both:

  1. Using inflammatory, derogatory, and unprofessional phrasing to purposely push on emotions as a way to sway the reader. I dont give a shit if the target are people I dislike, Ad Hominem is not good journalism. Its gross

  2. Grammatically frames all these individuals as a collective, sweepingly treating them as a whole. Thats also not okay

I dont give a shit if the writer is talking about something roughly I sort of agree with, Im still going to call out shitty tactics for being shitty.

The article is gross and written like a teens Tumblr post. Fuck off with the sweeping generalizations and inflammatory attempts at polarization.

None.

This is literally as fucking stupid as idiots declaring "antifa" as a organized terrorist organization.

Theres nothing "organized" about it.

Tell me, who the fuck is the president of that collective? Do the have meetings and memberships?

No? Then they arent a fucking collective. That goes for dumbass incels just as much as antifascist protesters.

Its literally the same stupid generalizing, stop letting yourself get so easily baited into getting polarized, jesus christ.

No, they arent.

[–] pixxelkick@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (10 children)

This article is doing the classic move of lumping thousands of unorganized individuals together and treating them as a collective.

The very same thing they are calling out as bad behavior.

SMH, the US has become so polarized...

That looks closer to a 220~260k salary job posting.

100~110k in LA area is entry level IT.

Cool idea but Im pretty sure you can extremely optimize the ambiguity calculation by just vectorizing the terms and looking them up in a vector database.

Its pretty mid.

I was a book kid, who grew up and was 13 to 17 during the release of the HP series.

I read mountains of YA books and adult alike. Spent tonnes of weekend days at the library.

HP was okay, it wasnt bad.

But it wasnt the best either. I would absolutely say stuff like Sabriel and the Bartimaeus trilogy were substantially better.

Oh and dont even get me started on Redwall, Jacques was an amazing writer who knew how to craft incredible worlds.

By comparison to those, Id score HP closer to a 6 or so.

Uh we don't fuckin ban the sale of cars though, thats insane and stupid.

"Children were driving cars into people so instead of banning children from driving cars, banned the sale of them unless they cant go faster than 25km/hr"

Which, by the way, is still stupid.

Ebikes will still completely fuck a person uo if you hit them at 25km/hr.

Unlike a pedal bike, ebikes are WAY heavier and have way more momentum, so that will still cause massive damage.

The whole thing is stupid, top to bottom.

E-bikes should not require a drivers license, because operating one is not at all similar to driving a car

I dont know about your country but here in Canada we have like 7 different kinds of drivers licenses.

Driving a car is a Class 5, learners is a Class 7, motorbike is a class 6, busses are class 2, etc.

Mopeds are under Class 7, so simply getting your learners at 14, you can now drive mopeds.

E-bikes should be classified under the same as mopeds, lower speed and less dangerous than motorbikes.

I believe small dirt bikes with gas engines are also classified under class 7.

I dont think you need a class 5 or 6 to drive an ebike, thats too restrictive.

But at minimum class 7 for sure, which is literally just a simple written exam and eye exam, but whats important is legally the ability to now incur infractions on your learners.

You arent allowed to get your drivers license until you have gone 2 years without infractions here. So if you hurt somebody diving your bike, itd have true proper legal ramifications in your driving record.

And, you 100% should need insurance to drive one, just like any other motorized vehicle. Thats just basic stuff obviously.

The biggest problem presently is that parents can buy a battery and wheel hub from ali-baba for a few hundred dollars, and a 12 year old kid can strap it (literally) to a $100 k-mart bike and be weaving through traffic at 50km/h. For $1,000 or so you could construct a contraption that would get you up to 70km/h or perhaps more.

Parents can also buy a beater car for $1000 and their child can get in drive that into traffic, whats your point. Should we stop the sale of all cars? Or do the sensible thing as we currently do and require a license+registration+insurance to buy a car?

We literally have already solved this problem with mopeds and dirt bikes like 30 years ago.

Just cuz the motor is electric instead of gas doesnt magically change anything at all.

Oh there absolutely us.

But, also more expensive and much slower to remove/put in

Usb B especially strikes that balance of still very eaay to quickly pop in/out, while being fairly robust to take some abuse.

Its why you see it in use for stuff like midi keyboards, where you expect to have to frequently connect and disconnect but also withstand some abuse.

USB B is the most common plug for digital instrument stuff. XLR / Analog of course otherwise which are also super robust.

Even then, did they eliminate income at conception?

Parents who wait til later to have kids are going to be more financial sound and thus can handle raising an autistic child with a way lower mortality rate.

Gotta account for income gaps too.

Is this..

A lemmy post sharing a bluesky post that has a screencap of an Instagram post thats a share of a video?

Are we serious?

So, my fiance and I have for quite awhile come to terms with us being poly, primarily myself but she is cool with it.

Thing is, we've been together for 13 years now, are getting married soon, and while we have agreed that if we ever met someone we clicked with, we also have come to terms with the fact it feels like that won't actually ever happen.

We're both very introverted and keep to ourselves. We aren't actually party goers, and the wildest nights we have are the extremely rare night where we host a board game night with like, maybe 4 friends. And that's a "rager" for us, comparatively.

We've looked into some dating apps but the results are... abysmal. Non starter really.

And since we are both so far along in our life together, it feels more and more like it would be impossible to "Fairly" include another person anyways. They'd forever be "second" in that me and my fiance have thirteen (and counting) years of history, whereas the new person would be starting completely fresh. That doesn't seem like it could ever work anyways, no matter how hard we tried right?

We've talked at length about this and agreed that it just doesn't seem like it could even work, despite us wanting it to, and that we're sorta just gonna have to be cool with being monogamous poly, which is weird but I dunno how else to describe it.

The only situation I've considered that would work is if it was another couple that both of us click with both of them, and everyone vibes with each other in every direction, which then means at least everyone has someone else they have history with, and someone else that is new, which feels more like now everyone is on "equal" footing if you will, removing that feeling of imbalance.

But then of course we have to confront the fact that the odds of two people finding two other people and everyone vibing with everyone else is... well incredibly low. And when I say vibing I'm talking "we want to have a close committed intimate and romantic relationship" level.

So, I guess I wanted to send out some feelers on if any other folks are in this sort of state, how are you navigating it, how do you feel about it, lets talk about this sort of state.

Something to noodle on:

Is it morally wrong to try and initiate a poly relationship with a third person, when the other 2 people have a "fallback" of each other, such that the third person forever will be subjected to the 2v1 power imbalance, that if things broke down the 2 would quick the third out, forever putting them at a disadvantage?

Cuz, personally, I feel like I can't morally subject someone to that myself, I'd forever feel "off" about putting another person (no matter how willing) into that position, it feels... wrong.

Im looking for some form of self hosted application, ideally dockerized(able), that can connect to and manage an existing database (Im not picky on the DB type, Postgres prolly best though).

However Id like if it manages it via a nice well designed ERD. The closest I have found so far is PgAdmin but unfortunately it's ERD leaves a lot to be desired. It's kinda clunky, and it cant "diff" against your existing database to produce a migration script, all it can do is produce a script that expects you to totally drop the existing DB and re-apply the schema from scratch.

Something like Luna/Moon would be cool, but every example I look up seems to be an application you install locally on your machine and interact with directly, as opposed to a web interface.

If you know of such a tool let me know!
