Frag doch mal an deiner nähesten Uni/Fachhochschule ob den jemand gebrauchen könnte. Klar mit 16 Kernen und 32GB RAM wird man keine LLMs laufen lassen, aber als compute node für SLURM oder kleinere CPU basierte Forschungscluster würde das Teil sicherlich noch taugen.

My guess is your GPU is toast and/or overheating. Nouveau is the open source driver for Nvidia GPUs, so this driver screaming errors may indicate problems in this direction...

Hab hier 2 Icy Box Gehäuse stehen, welche von meinem Vorgänger gekauft worden sind, wie du beschreibst. 2x8 HDD Enclosure mit USB3 an einem Mini PC.
Ich würde davon abraten bzw. empfehlen genau darauf zu schauen was das enclosure kann.
Die Teile kommen im Normalfall mit dem grützigsten RAID controller onboard, die der Markt so her gibt. Weitere Nachteile sind u.a. auch das man keine SMART Werte sieht und die HDDs nur als RAID und nicht als einzelne Festplatten an das OS meldet. Keine Ahnung ob es da mittlerweile "bessere" Kisten dafür gibt, welche das besser und "wirkliches jbod" machen.
Ich hab die enclosures mittlerweile durch ein ordentliches NAS ersetzt, alleine deshalb, dass ich jetzt die Platten Monitoren kann. Keine Lust nochmal 32TB Daten wegen eines besch..... Noname 5€-Raid Controller zu verlieren...
