"prepper" vs "Prepper" with a capital "P".

The first learns and practices actual useful skills -- gardening, food preservation, repairing their own things, etc. The later are dorks buying a ton of unnecessary shit shilled by right-wing influencers cosplaying as "entirely self-sufficient".

That was the original meaning, but it's also been co-opted by assholes as an "argument" against providing for people's basic needs.

Buy why is it human? I'm just happy they fixed this oversight in the (vastly superior) 2001 remake with the Lincoln Memorial.

I had zero with uBlock -- do you have the plugin disabled for that site?

Noodles are composed mostly of starches and heat causes gelatinization: which gives noodles their texture, taste, and holds them together. It also kills off any pathogens, which is a good things since it's fairly common for raw flour to be contaminated with E. coli and Salmonella.

Cold water causes them to revert back to wet flour.

How many of your Amazon purchases are things you actually need?

I deleted my Amazon account entirely -- my kindle is a paperweight now. It sucked, but between Amazon and all the other retailers I refuse to do business with my impulse buying has dropped to near zero. Any non essential want has an added barrier to buying it now -- and that's not a bad thing.

Yes: some of the things I buy are a bit more expensive now, but I'm actually spending less overall.

I don't get why people get upset at frequently expiring passwords. It's not hard: just write it on a postit note and stick it on your monitor.

I flew from Jermany to Tanzania and saw some jeriatric jiraffes.

I say it "Jif" because:

  • That's what the format's creator named it.
  • It's weird, but "soft G" is a thing and acronyms and the only "rule" for pronouncing acronyms is "it's easy to say".
  • It annoys people that are way too invested in it. Sure, it's immature -- but it's low stakes and not particularly "shitty". I enjoy it and you only YOLO once.

In places where natural gas is cheap and electricity is expensive cost is a factor

I get the impression this directive is more about sending a message.

Edit: I learned something new.

A pardon doesn't remove a conviction and discriminating against someone convicted of a crime isn't federally illegal, as that isn't a protected class. I'm not sure how this works with Illinois law given we have Conviction Record Protection. I do know state law specifically forbids hiring people with specific convictions (particularly violent ones) for certain jobs -- e.g. Police, fire, etc. And IDPH will absolutely pull your licenses for something as "minor" as not paying child support.
