I got curious; Seattle is indeed 100 miles further than Vancouver from Tokyo. That being said, bonded warehouses exist, so there would be no financial benefit to using separate ports or tariff penalty from using a single port.

Am I missing something or is there just no source given in this article? I would really like to be able to read more but I can’t find anything in the recent press releases from the JWST team or through a quick search. It doesn’t even say who the “researchers” are.

Also why is every other sentence bolded? It made it really hard to read.

Edit: It seems that the article is mostly taken from this 2023 NASA blog post. The raisin bread analogy is on Wikipedia.

Even if this isn’t AI slop this is a lazy article.

It also required expensive ROM chips and cartridge assembly and came in a full color box with a full color manual.

Digital games don’t come with anything and don’t cost anything to ship.

Not to mention that salaries have absolutely not kept up with inflation so it’s not like that money is going to the developers.

One of the expressed reasons for cutting funding to PBS and NPR (via the Corp. for Public Broadcasting) is because they can’t influence what is being said by those entities.

It’s what Game Stop (and a myriad of other “buy, sell, trade” stores) does with used games and consoles but with cars. eBay exists but most people don’t want to go to that much trouble.

If you pay really close attention in Christmas Vacation the woman who says the pledge doesn’t say “under god” because she didn’t learn it that way.

It’s interesting what different companies consider success. Apple sold far more iPhone Minis in 3 years and yet the phone is considered to have no market.

I wonder if other companies entering the handheld space, like Lenovo and Asus for instance, will see numbers like this and bail like they did last time they tried Steam Machines?

It’s about having options.

I wish you were correct. Unfortunately it only implies the meme you posted and lacks the context you are ascribing. It could be taken either way on the Internet.
