How very strange that the article makes no mention of how the Tate brothers found themselves in the United States in the first place…

Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

It does? Although it's not much.
Last year, they were allowed to leave Romania and flew to Florida on a private jet.
Not sure if that was added, the article does say it was updated in tiny print at the top by the date, but not what was updated. Of course.
HOW were they allowed to, though?
Weren't they already convicted and serving prison sentences?
Or is the Romanian government as corrupt as the US one and just set them free for bribes and/or political reasons?
They were convicted but it didn't stick ( or someone intervened ) and afterwards i'm fairly certain they were set free and allowed to go to florida in an exchange of favours: we give you your guys and you shut up about us cancelling elections ( back then maga was particularly vocal about those elections, for good reason too). And wouldn't you know it, not a maga peep about the elections since. The tates even revisited Romania to "make investments here". Isn't it nice when crooks scratch each other's backs?
This is not correct; they haven't been convicted of anything yet.
They're out on the equivalent of bail awaiting trial. That they are not wearing ankle tags or the like and are allowed to travel was thanks to pressure from the US Government, though.
Are they expecting Trump to let them out? If you're hiding in another country, why would you visit that country?
Probably child rapists and sex traffickers stick together.
Well of course not, because only the most true of alpha males accept the law and it's punishment.
Probably...
The Tates probably can't afford the bribe
I remember this. IIRC, shorty after they arrived back they were spotted out in Maimi nightclubs with some other right wing fools dancing to Kanye's nazi song that someone in the party had requested from the DJ.
Was speaking more towards policy and process rather than mode of transport.
Disingenuous at best, blatant obfuscation at worst.
The dearth of detail highlights the editorial stance of the publication; the term that comes to mind is cowardice.

Yeah, AP has a reputation for trustworthiness through a lack of bias, but in reality their dogmatic insistence on ABSOLUTE neutrality in the face of objective reality is both cowardly and a tremendous bias itself that renders them less trustworthy than those partisan sources that don't hide their bias.
That appears to be an open question that would be an entire article unto itself. As in, not the focus of this article.
The article was only about 4 short paragraphs when I posted it four hours ago, with zero analysis. It's got a lot more now.
That's pretty funny
I thought these guys were already in jail.
And also they look like they bang each other.
You can't spell "Andrew fucks Tristan" without "incest"
You’re thinking of the island boys
US next presidents will have time in jail to write mein kampf… until their pardon by the pedo facho rapist in chief.
The charges are in the UK, which is trying to extradite them, which is why they were arrested
US next presidents
If there are any. I wouldn't put it past Trump to run in 2028, rig that election so thoroughly that he literally can't lose, and establish hereditary rule afterwards.
Even when/if the dictatorship is eventually overthrown and it's still called the US, they might wisely scrap the extremely outdated Constitution and establish a parliamentary system without a powerful president in order to prevent a repeat of that whole debacle..
