The banks are still loaning him money for sure, but at a certain point that's not exactly a good thing for musk. The stock price is what the banks are using as collateral, and with these types of loans the banks have the ability to collect on the loans if the stock devalues past a certain point.

Musk is only the richest man in the world on paper, and that's because Tesla stock is overpriced by several orders of magnitude. If Tesla stock receives a reasonable correction, there's a very good chance that it's going to have a cascading effect on his other forms of collateral.

He and other "billionaires" are a lot like people juggling too many loans using their homes as collateral. And like them if the housing market (economy) collapses they are going to be in really poor positions. It's really just gambling and betting numbers always goes up, just so you don't ever have to pay taxes.

Unfortunately Tesla stock is so overpriced that it takes a whole bunch of money to sustain a short sale unless you have insider info.

Yeah.... I think some Marshalls are probably going to get fired by some angry judges. The Marshalls are the enforcement arm of the federal courts, they really do not have the jurisdiction to do much without court orders.

Wouldn't be surprised if these weren't actual Marshalls, but are part of the private security team that musk had deputized.

Well the Republican party doesn't have 3rd way and centrist politicians who like to make any excuse to cooperate with the opposition.

3rd way politics is was got us into this mess, and at this point the people who still advocate for "bi-partisanship" are either incredibly stupid or just conservative plants.

Hamas came to power after winning an election in 2006.

And that election happened in a complete vacuum.... No need to add context to why Palestinians in 06' would be voting for Hamas.

Also 2006 was nearly 20 years ago, the vast majority of the people who voted for Hamas are dead or have migrated away. 50% of the population in Gaza are under 18.

But you gotta hand it to the guy, he took control of the most powerful nation the world has ever known

Eh, that's kinda feeding into the propaganda surrounding him. In reality the Russian Federation is just run by the people who scammed the most citizens from their ownership rights after the privatization of the Soviet state. Since the fall of the Soviet state, it's basically been pretending to be a world power by bullying smaller nations with the military it inherited.

His real talent is propagandizing and intimidating his way to the top of basically a government run by a mob.

it's pretty clear who's pulling the oompa-lumpas strings)

Again, I think this is exactly what they want you to think. I just think trump wants what Putin has, supreme power to whatever he wants, and a state where his cronies can do whatever they want so long as they are loyal. American oligarchs have been envious of Russian oligarchs for some time now.

This is going to be a hard pill to swallow for the Russian nationalist cosplaying as leftist on Lemmy......

More than likely possible depending on how they came up with valuations on old stock piles from the cold war. Depends on if you value them based on their original cost, or the modern cost to replace them.

Do you think it's a coincidence that fascist parties all over Europe are gaining traction at the same time, running on the same platforms, and offering the same solutions?

They are going to use the same play book being utilized in America in your country, if you don't know the playbook you are going to have the same problems.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Yeap, I just think trump went to Russia and liked how they did things. I think American billionaires see the government as a boss, and they think rich people shouldn't be able to be told no. They think if there is a hierarchy of power they should get to wield it to do the things they want to do, it shouldn't ever be wielded against them.

I think that's why he is generally bewildered when he is still told no, or held accountable, and why he's so vindictive when he's told no. He doesn't really understand why people are allowed to say no, in his head he's boss of America.

So when he sees Putin getting to do whatever he wants without any resistance, it makes sense to him, and he's jealous. If Putin is boss of Russia, why can't I be boss of America?

Addressing your editorializing.

appreciate the distant history is imperfect, but there are so many worse "progroms" and minority dominance stories in history

Distant history? All of this is modern history....... The vast majority nof the immigration to the region happened in the 00's.

Just because there are worse examples of government sanctioned abuse towards minorities, does not mean we should defend or deny any kind of abuse. Should we not condemn the genocide in Gaza because at one point the Israeli experienced a greater genocide? What is the logic of this way of thinking?

this as yet another politicization of history for warmongering ammunition,

This is just history....attempting to rewrite or cover up historical events is the politicization of history.

the goal with zero consideration for peace and prosperity and contentment achieved by recent approach.

By this logic the genocide and assimilation of the native American population is entirely valid.

Your edit may be the most ethically devoid statement I've ever seen on this site. I think you really need to examine your moral compass.

You will call Chinese propaganda on this too, but plenty of youtube tourism

As I already said, the government has made massive efforts to assimilate the region and have pushed the majority native population away from major cities which are now being used for tourism.

YouTube tourist are not journalist, they are not members of international rights groups. They are still highly restrictive of travel to areas where the vast majority of where the native Uyghur populations were relocated to.

showing vibrant and prosperous region with luxury maintained Mosques.

Because that's what is traditionally important to cultural and religious heritage ...... luxury?

If Israel rebuilds the Great Mosque of Gaza and turns it into a "luxury Mosque" as a tourist attraction...would that be okay?

Note also that their success is despite the lying based demonism of sanctions on the region.

Again.....you have failed to establish that the accusations are lies. You have yet to make any kind of rebuttal that addresses any of the evidence I've posted.

I don't get how you can have such nationalist views of a country you have never been to, nor know any of the modern history.

Are you claiming that all ethnic prejudice in East Asia is propaganda, or just this particular case? I really don't understand how you can be so uncritical of the ethnic abuse in one country but not another.

If I was really just propagandizing for the west, wouldn't I be making excuses or trying to downplay the genocide occurring in Gaza? Please, just stop engaging in partisanship and use some critical thinking skills.
