Had that monoculture even existed?

When I was a kid, Sega Genesis was the main console. But I had a lot of friends who only played Mortal Kombat and I was the guy who only plays Dune 2. I guess there was a lot of people who played all the Sonic and Mario games, maybe they were the "monoculture".

I was raised without any religion and when I was 6 I found "Bible for kids" in a fairy tale section of the library. I've read it thinking that it's a weird fairy tale.

I've read first 6 Dune books when I was a teenager. It had a profound effect on me. I am reading it again, just finished book 4. I think I understand the phylosophical and religious references a bit better, but it's still a very difficult book series.
