One could argue it already is - mainly on a soft power level. Now that Ursula has chopped the chains off the war chest we can get back the hard power as well. I feel very good about this, it's rare to feel optimistic about the way your country and union is going...

"If you don't like it you can leave" is such a shit argument that I keep hearing, the whole point of democracy is that if you don't like it you are allowed to complain and vote to change the situation. Implying someone doesn't have the right to complain or change an existing system is just how fascism works...
It is always, and I mean ALWAYS morally correct to punch a nazi
Wait Elon threw this away in exchange for an orange Monkey that is built like a shattered lava lamp???
I am quite hyped for this thing, 20k euro (prob 25k euro here in Finland with the preposterous car taxes) is quite a reasonable price, and 2027 gives me enough time to save up for one.
lol what is there to investigate this is pretty thoroughly documented situation. Maybe next they will start investigating ET
Thank you for the info! I am right now thinking of switching to linux on my PC - I am using like a 7 year old Windows 10 system so I need to clean up anyway and no way in hell am I moving to Windows 11 :D
Americans being shocked at European protest actually being protests will never not be funny. For some reason Americans will change their profile pic for a day and think they're making a statement while Europeans will only recognize an event as a protest when something is literally burning or destroyed
Am I crazy for thinking that this will be fine? Most people here in Europe have some experience or at the very least an understanding of the unbelievable destruction our continent has gone through in the last 100 years. I am in Finland and my country was basically a developing country until the 1980s frankly. We have gone through depression periods in recent history as a continent at various points.
You need to really nuke things for us to not have some optimism to recover. I do not feel that for Americans. I used to live in the USA for close to a decade, and what I noticed is that a lot of Americans have gotten so full of themselves, figuratively unable to close their belts from greed that a disruption to the over consumption is going to cause significant chaos.
I am more worried for the average American about what will happen when the iPhone is no longer affordable and we get into a serious financial depression that Americans haven't experienced for a century.
Somehow the complexity of using Lemmy compared to other social media sites and the decentralized nature of it has really gotten rid of the trollfarms and bot spam to a pretty good extent. I realize now that Reddit has such an insane amount of bad-faith actors that cause the site to be so toxic, same with all other mainstream social media.
My alternative was to start carrying a wallet with cards. Maybe it's not wise to give card information for free to a service like that in general.
That is the reason why I gotta just trust that the people running the country and EU know what they are doing.
I am in Finland and I really do trust we are doing what we need to, our defense forces and government is very shush shush regarding defense, every government and defense outlet was adamant that we weren't joining NATO until the foreign minister and president announced the move. At least in a country of 5 million we are really thinking of each other here. Let's just hope that is the case for the rest of the EU and the overall union.
