So you're a bottom.

Replace the word "republican" with "conservative" and see how non-sensical that would be. Punk is about rebellion against the status quo. It is literally the opposite of conservative.

I just started watching High Potential. It's a police procedural, which I don't care for #acab, but my mom likes them and this one has some qualities that make it watchable. There have been a few frustrations, but the most egregious so far is this:

Mother reports missing girls. Police captain insists they can't put out an amber alert until it's been 24 hours. In this, the year of our lord 2025, they decided to roll out that exhausted and dangerously incorrect trope. They even make comments later in the episode about how every minute counts toward finding them alive. I mean.

I took it a few days ago and would like to expound on my responses. I checked yes for feminist content, but noted that I hope the community doesn't become too political. That has different meanings to different people so I want to clarify.

There's a lot of negative stuff happening that is relevant to women. But if this community becomes just another space with post after post of whatever fuckery Trump or his ilk are up to, it will be too depressing to follow. Not that we can never discuss anything negative, but I, for one, would prefer for it to be a small percentage of the content here. If there's a win for something like equal pay or transgender rights, that's the political content I want to see.

I love button-down tops, and navy is in my color palette. I would go floral with that. Either my floral pants:

My skirt

Or jeans and blazer.

I'm a huge fan of the French tuck. I'm an apple shape, and I like the way it creates a gentle curve or angle across my figure instead of a straight line. The half-tuck is perfect for this shirt, but I've never been able to pull that one off without looking sloppy.

I'm hot-natured, so I would need to roll the sleeves up..

If I'm going out for fun, I top it off with a bow tie.

Hello artists,

This prompt was planned for spring for a reason.

This would also be a great time to practice using hatch marks. We usually associate that with drawing, but you can do it in painting as well.

Go forth and create.

Empty spell slots is a good metaphor if you're talking to gamers.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

Taskmaster. At least once you've seen them all, it's a great show to tune in and out of.

Mystery science theater is another.

Canada goose. You know why.

Started doing karaoke again, and it's been so fun and energizing. I sang Alanis Morisette's You Oughta Know and totally slayed.

I have nicely shaped legs and a good sense of style.

I've been trying hard to curate the "be curious, not judgemental" philosophy from Ted Lasso. I'm not the best at it, but the fact that I actively try to be kinder to others puts me ahead of the curve.

Very impressive. I hope you've at least got a support system among friends.

FYI, the next prompt on [email protected] is "Hatching" and your work is perfect for it.

I will buy a game just because it's pretty. Give me more of hat rainbow art. Lisa Frank, the game.

Hello artists,

Visual art inspired by music has been around for a long time.

Modern artists have found inspiration there as well.

Is there a song that creates vivid images for you? You could try to recreate that. Or you could create fan art of a favorite musician.

Chris Loud Art has a short tutorial on using music to inspire abstract painting.

You could listen to a playlist that’s made to inspire creativity. I know Spotify has some available.

Do you usually listen to music while you create? Please drop your favorite songs/soundtracks in the comments.

Go forth and create.

Colored pencil on paper.

Wasn't able to paint this week, and brain fog resulted in the bottom fish right-side up, when I'd intended upside-down

Hello artists,

This is a great article on seven types of symmetry in art:

  1. Reflectional Symmetry
  2. Radial Symmetry
  3. Translational Symmetry
  4. Inverted Symmetry
  5. Biaxial Symmetry
  6. Near Symmetry
  7. Asymmetry

Note that Asymmetry will be its own prompt in July. If you want to learn more about these and see some examples, check out the article.

Mandalas are almost always symmetrical and can be fun and relaxing to draw/color.

Also check out master of symmetry M.C. Escher’s work.

Gouache on paper.

My street is always covered in trash. People can't be bothered to throw their bags in the bin, or even bag their trash at all, so it blows everywhere. I was walking out one night and saw the moon, looking like it was cradled in the branches of this tree. The juxtaposition of the dumpster stuck with me.

Acryllic paint and netting on canvas.

I save my acryllic skins (the dried paint on your palette or paint bottles) and mod podged them onto this. Didn't quite come out the way I hoped.

Hello artists,

I can think of several interpretations for this prompt.

  • Seeing the beauty in something ugly. Like this video where Albert finds beauty in rotting wood, moldy bricks, and the mud on his trash can.
  • Something beautiful depicted in an ugly way, like this way of making portraits
  • Using something ugly to create something beautiful, like these works made from trash.
  • Something that depicts an ugly concept, like this anti-war painting.
  • Something that is just straight up ugly. Art can be used to make us sit with discomfort and examine our own biases. This is one of my favorites.

Go forth and create.

Hello artists,

Texture can be created in a myriad of ways.

Traditionally, artists have created thick textured paintings with the impasto technique.

You can make a collage in the style of Alberto Burri.

You can add paint to a surface by using something other than a paintbrush, like a sponge, plastic wrap, or bubble wrap.

You can try drawing to create the illusion of texture.

This could also be a cool week to take up sculpture.

Acryllic and ink on paper.

I suck at lettering.

Hello artists,

This week we’re playing with scale. You can illustrate/make something that is:

  • really tiny

  • tiny irl, like a microchip, an insect, or a single-celled organism

  • tiny in comparison to something else, like a kitten next to a mastiff.

Go forth and create.
