Oh no, haha, I found them in the store in the spring so I planted in spring. I also have no scapes, and all the parts I can see are very green. I may put mulch out before first frost and try for harvesting next year.

I definitely want to try out the heat shrink wrap. I think that best preserves the original machine. Plus, if I muck it up, I should still be able to cut it off.
