I'm okay with servers being shut down eventually, my issue is we don't know when. If they want to call it a license and that it will be revoked later, well fucking plan it out and tell people. Did the game get cheaper as the clock ran down? Did the people buying 10 years of access pay more than people that only got to play it once? I'm pissed for the people like me that sometimes take a few years to get to playing their games only to find the servers are gone and they thought they were buying something (or at least licensing something) they would get to use.

Of course they would probably find that if they told people how long they could use it, a lot of people wouldn't pay them for it (i.e. their business would fail without intentionally deceiving their customers).

I've been using vinegar for this for most of my life but have never added salt. Does that speed it up, or help in some other way?

You're technically correct, there is no law prohibiting a current or former president from driving, but there is a policy preventing it and it is enforced by the secret service (who follow them around for the rest of their life). Many former presidents have gone on the record that the lose of their driving privileges really sucks (Bush 43, Clinton, and Obama have all discussed it on camera during various interviews). It's been a policy since Kennedy was assassinated, lots of other policy changes too, but one was the no driving bit.

A long, long time ago, at a helpdesk far, far away I "revived" a couple hard drives with a short drop. Never actually fixed them, but it's gotten a few to spin just long enough to retrieve some important emails or documents.

I wouldn't recommend it, but sometimes you just gotta persuade stuff...

I don't remember offhand, but I think that's buried in a restricted settings area... I needed it for something I can't remember now.

I had the same experience, tried other stuff and eventually came back. Maybe I didn't have redis and Maria setup right before but it's much better for me this time around.

Totally not saying that's what was up for you though, it's not for everyone.

That definitely sounds like it could be a nice upgrade depending on well it could be filtered (I could see that spidering out pretty quickly if the things you follow interact a lot). Definitely something I'll have to check out sometime, thanks again.

Honest question as I finally dusted back off my interest in RSS. With RSS I need to add the URL to my client and it periodically checks back to show me when new content is posted, does ActivityPub handle this differently? Like how does it know which sources to use without having to hunt down their AP feed and add it to a client?

I could totally be missing something super simple or implied.

I'm not the guy you asked, but I self-host it because I like a couple of the features (like making an org for house stuff, and sharing that with certain family members), it's really awesome for OTP as well. I honestly don't know which features are the paid ones because I went straight to Vaultwarden as I knew I wanted it in house (physically) and Bitwarden didn't offer that.

6 years is one hell of a run for OEM blades! Have you ever looked into silicon ones? While they cost more, they are completely silent and as they wear down they actually fill the minor imperfections in your windshield making it act like it's been covered in Rain-X or similar.

I bought a Jeep a couple years ago and the factory ones came on and scared the shit out of me because I forgot normal blades make that sound.

It definitely helps. In GrapheneOS, Google Play Services can be installed, but it is sandboxed and doesn't even have network access unless you allow it.

It solves so much more though, like through scoping you can give an app access to your contacts, or just specific contacts; to the app, those specific contacts are the only contacts that exist on your phone.

It's one of those things I'm glad people do, not to be offensive, but to be specific.

Prefixing it like that is pretty awesome as someone with a tofu alergy might be fine with chili, but might need a warning when the recipe has been changed.
