University of the West of England’s unconventional computing laboratory

The "unconventional computing laboratory" was definitely founded in partnership with Miskatonic U.

"I quell chaos and make you safe by dominating outsiders" is the core argument of power, going back to the earliest records we have of the lies of the powerful.

Engravings of pharaoh, club in hand, twice as large and looming over enslaved foreigners could still work as PR today if you give pharaoh trump's hair and make the defeated others trans.

Words that sound like other words are funny. A lot of humor is about setting up an expectation and then subverting it. The set up is the picture, but then the words subvert that expectation by describing it as something that sounds similar but is very different.

start thinking about a general strike

How many months of food and rent money do you have saved up?

A general strike isn't only a massive challenge of will and solidarity - it's also picking a resource fight with capital itself. All the determination in the world crumbles in the face of hunger and deprivation. A general strike requires months or years of planning and hoarding.

Thousands of Oregonians on Saturday joined nationwide protests

There were easily 10k+ at the waterfront in downtown Portland, combined with the single digit thousands at other spots in the greater metro and the numbers from other spots around the state, it's much more accurate to say ten of thousands.

I saw a clip of this moron for the first time a week or two ago.

The entire segment was him saying that genocide against native peoples was justified because they too had violence present in their societies. Of course, the overwhelming majority of complex life on earth include violence in their behavior repetoire.

So per this dipshit, you're morally justified in wiping out complex life.

Humans follow laws, animals ignore them

Laws are for binding the poor, the rich ignore them.

There are stages to escalate through and multiple channels to apply pressure through at the same time.

Large-scale peaceful demonstrations are an important first stage, and are still required as more intense channels are opened up.

It's a matter of "Yes, that and more" not "No, something else"

willing to escalate, and BLM was not that.

I live in Portland OR so I know that's not true.

A more effective version of BLM would've called a general strike.

You can't just call a general strike like it's an I Win power in a video game.

How is BLM going to feed and pay rent for millions of strikers in this general strike? A general strike is a massive, resource intensive feat of logistics with many possible fail points that takes a long time planning to have any hope of success.

Especially since we've not had a general strike in over a generation, there's a good chance it would fail and sour the prospects of doing a general strike in the future.

Also, BLM was a diffuse multi-regional movement with local goals and concrete demands. Defund police departments and end qualified immunity were consistent national goals.

Yeah it's laughable to suggest that russia has a plan that benefits the US in any way. Help us destroy the country and you can loot the ruins is the plan.

Not only is microsoft providing a logistic backbone for israel's ongoing genocide, but bill gates has definitely raped children. He flew on epstein's "lolita express", met with him many times in many places, and their relationship was a primary reason for melinda divorcing him.

Chinuk Wawa, also called Chinook Trade Jargon, is an incredibly simple language with like ~1000 words and basically no grammar. It's a pidgin of several native languages with some english and french influence.

The language was spoken by settler and native alike, until the railroad arrived and English overwhelmed it.

The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde built a very nice app to help learn this very important part of our region's heritage.
