Are modes eligible? There's this one top user who kinda deserve a silver.
I try not to overthink it - if it's a topic I'm interested in I just keep posting, even if I'm alone. There's no point (in my mind) in worrying about people being put off of a community with a single poster since the only alternative is a completely dead one. It might be just me but I feel like the latter is less inviting - if only because you have no idea if anything you post will get a response. With a single poster you know there's at least one person passionate enough about the topic to engage with you.
I feel you. I've been trying to kickstart a community for over a year now and the best I can hope for are a few votes. It can be pretty deflating after a while.
Man, I pretty much lost any hope of this getting picked up again. It's good to be back.
Thanks! I don't really "play" ESO as much as I use it as a sightseeing simulator at the moment but yeah, both normal gameplay and just running around can be quite enjoyable. They did a great job with the world and quest design.
It’s a shame the community on Lemmy isn’t that busy, but I guess there’s not a lot of players here yet.
Well, it's a self-perpetuating problem of small communities - no one engages with them so they look like ghost towns scaring people away. Someone has to be the one to get the ball rolling if they're to thrive wink wink nudge nudge.
Perhaps the "year of fixes" ends up bringing some new faces eventually. I'm curious if/how the wider sentiment on SC changes as the game becomes more playable.
Game list:
- NHL99 - tried again but no luck
- Colin McRae Rally 04
- Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War
Full version
I once again spent some time trying to run NHL99 but couldn't get it to work. I'm honestly close to giving up on this one which is a shame because I really wanted to see how the game holds up.
To make myself feel better about this failure I decided to reinstall Colin McRae Rally 04. I already played this one last year so I'm well aware it works beautifully - this time was no different.
I mostly ran some random races as I'm not really in a mood for full championship this time. Either way, it's a fun game. I don't know why but I really love these old rally titles. Now if I could find some time to try running one of Sega Rally Championship games, that would be great.
Last week I mentioned getting close to the end of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War and, well, I finished it. My feelings didn't really change since the last post - the final levels were challenging but fun (I'm not sure what is it with these guys and shoving you into tight hallways in a jet but whatever) and the game over all was a really enjoyable experience. While I don't think I liked this one more than 4, this playthrough still confirmed my plan to continue with the series.
I don't know when I'm going to play the next one (I'll probably give it a few months to focus on other titles) but it'll happen.
My only gripes with the experience have nothing to do with the game funnily enough but rather my platform of choice - the Steam Deck. While the small screen worked great for the most part, there were a few segments where I felt it ended up being detrimental to my performance. Not a game breaking thing but still.
The second, more important, issue has to do with controls. I'm not sure I like playing AC on the Deck. It really feels like there's something wrong with my ability to execute quick and precise manoeuvres in more difficult situations. I actually ended up switching to my desktop monitor and PS3 controller to finish the game (the latter brought an especially noticeable difference).
Last but not least, I'm once again plugging my Pixelfed account - I created it, might as well let people know it exists. I've added some more screenshots since last week, this time from The Elder Scrolls Online and Remember Me.
I'll try to keep a decent variety of titles posted there - both to keep it interesting (I hope) and because that's just how I play games most of the time. One thing I can promise though is that most, if not all, of the titles posted there will be worthy of the patient gamer community.
What do you mean terrible? It's "moody" or "atmospheric"!
I thought there'd be more of us considering the time span you went with. I guess there's more to do in terms of popularising this community than expected.
I feel the same way. It's a small change and I feel like the only place it's kinda useful are entries with multiple patches but even then...
I can tell you are trying to put effort into this community and I really appreciate it :)
Well, I volunteered, might as well try doing it well. Thanks though, it's nice to know I'm not wasting my time.
Does it count as edutainment if it is about creating something of the very medium you are consuming?
Sure, why not? It looks like a fun intro to VN dev process too.
I feel like the announcement could've been done with a bit of a heads up (if only to give mods time to decide and prep on their side) but I guess it's not really a super serious event.
Initiative itself is great, hopefully winners come up with some decent charities. Let the ~~spam~~ engagement begin!
Yeah, it's not a huge difference - just the vertical line on the left side of the quoted section (at least on Lemmy). It's most noticeable in the first Majikoi entry.
Oh, I meant user gifted silver specifically. Thanks for clearing that up.
