/c/starcitizen is participating in this year's Lemmy Silver April Fools Charity Event.

Details can be found on the post here: https://lemmy.world/post/27664878

TL/DR: Every day for the month of April we get a "Lemmy Silver" that we can award to another user. The top 5 users that have the most Lemmy Silver by the end of the month can choose which charity that they want LemmyWorld admins to donate a reward to.

I'm hoping to boost some community engagement with this event.

I will be looking at all users that have posted or commented anything in this community in the previous day, list them out with a number, then roll some dice in-game to decide who gets the Lemmy Silver from me for the day.

~~If it makes sense, I'll look at including anyone who has even left a comment within the last day, let me know what you think!~~

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Edit: I'll be going off of UTC time, so you all have another hour and a half to get some submissions in for the first reward.

Edit2: comments are also included now.

Edit3: Unfortunately, it looks like you can't gift Lemmy Silver to the same user more than once. So I'll have to remove the winners from future rolls, sorry for the mixup!

I feel like the announcement could've been done with a bit of a heads up (if only to give mods time to decide and prep on their side) but I guess it's not really a super serious event.

Initiative itself is great, hopefully winners come up with some decent charities. Let the ~~spam~~ engagement begin!
